E400/C400 front brake calipers (Same as c450/c43) ?

I noticed both calipers have similar shapes and dimensions but look to be different. Would there be benefits to upgrading to the Akebono OEM C43 ones ?

I noticed the GLC 43 also uses its own design for front calipers> would a retrofit prove fruitful to the lower weight W205 cars?

The E43 has the same front calipers as the C43, but bigger rears> would a rear retrofit also be beneficial for the C ?

Your brakes are completely adequate for the car. You aren't upgrading at all by switching because they are all cast, two-piece, four piston front calipers. The C450 AMG line will have the calipers that say Mercedes-Benz and raw finish. All others will say AMG and by painted.

have a c450 with almost 60,000 miles.
when i'm due for brake change, can I replace it with c43 calipers with AMG on it (instead of Mercedes on it)?

more like an inquisitive inquiry. I would do pads before anything. but am wondering why Merc didn't use the same calipers for the sport brakes/ C450 and C43 ones.

I just verified the C450 and C43 both use the same exact A0004212312 rotors and A0004204900 pads.

C450 with A0004210000/A0004210100 unpainted "Mercedes-Benz" Calipers
C43 AMG & E43 AMG with A0004212100/A0004212200 light grey painted "AMG" Calipers

We can conclude the brakes are functionally the same across all models. They ended switching over because the C450 4Matic AMG line became the C43 AMG

great research. wondering about the E400/E450/C400.
those look different.

Are the C300 sports brake the same too?

weird, on the C300 w/AMG sports package, the caliper is listed as fitting the 2017 C63 S, but on the 2017 C63 S caliper list, it is not listed. Maybe the model number is only different because of a paint scheme ?

most online free catalogs are not completed. So while the catalog is somewhat true in that the calipers will bolt on, it is not compatible with the rest of the car's brake components.

I have not looked, but 99% assumption the C300 with sport brakes are the same brakes as the C450 AMG line. You can break it down to four different brakes:

1 unpainted sliding caliper with solid cast iron rotors (C300)
2 painted or unpainted fixed split caliper with solid cast iron rotors (C450 / C300 / C43)
3 painted fixed front monobloc caliper with cast iron hybrid rotors (C63)
3 orange bronze front painted fixed monobloc caliper with carbon ceramic rotors (C63)

Always change the pads and disks together.
