Is buying a Used 2015 C300 Smart?

Been considering acquiring a new Mercedes In the C class range because sportiness but I am questioning if the C300 pretty reliable car found one fully loaded a 2015 model with Sports package & AMG wheels, for 20k looks like it took a massive hit on depreciation it does have 68k miles and it is out of warranty, now I checked carfax its clean and it has been maintained well, & I do take care of my cars very well, but still I'm wondering if these cars can do a 1k mile road trip without any issues/breakdown.

So current owners with 60k+ miles would like to know your Experience with your cars, would you buy again or would you skip entirely, is there any preventative maintenance I need to do to 4 banger or is it a solid motor from the factory?

?

I have a 2015 with the sports package etc etc. I personally wouldn’t own it without a warranty. I currently have a 2018 engine in mine because of said warranty(defective spark plugs exploded) all in all I do love the car but I would want a warranty. Mines been problem free for a while now but it took me a few appointments to do get there. Also if it has 19” wheels you’re going to not love the less than perfect roads.

Lmaoo yeah it's the 19 in turbine looking wheels, I love the look of them, I'm so in love with this car, and I think the I4 gas mileage is going to be great but it does scare me, getting into it with 67k miles.

I don't know man... I picked up my wife's 2015 C300 4matic for around $22,000 and it only has 23,000 miles on it. I think you can do much better. Check Carvana.com.

Also, I found a great third party warranty for it for under $2,000 that covers everything except fluids, brakes, gaskets, and emissions for 5 years and 60,000 miles.

Ping me for more info on either or both.

https://www.carvana.com/search/20002...-300-sedan-4d-

Here is a good example, same price, half the mileage and Burmester sound too :-)

Good luck

Thing is I would like to get sport package and Carvana sold the last one they had. they're all basic models for sale tho still solid, I like more of sporty look out the box, I don't want to spend any more money on mods just drive around the city and state without stupid issues.

Bonesxxx 01-21-2019 05:02 PM

Keep your eyes open. 2015s and 2016s are coming off their 3-year leases and there are a lot out there. You should be able to find one at a similar price with half the miles.

I drove to Richmond to get a Sport for my wife and it was a CPO with under 30,000 miles for around $24K. Better to spend the extra 4K and get the CPO warranty and half the miles. (only reason I didn't buy it is the the guy who was test driving it when I got there did). Gotta be fast.

Redhook98 01-21-2019 05:09 PM

Got my 2015 with 37k miles for $21k in Virginia. Perfect condition, decent options. I would opt for one with less miles, but dont think you can go wrong in either case.

JAMADOR 01-21-2019 05:37 PM

Got mine ('15 Sport) CPO with 16k miles on it in July '18. IIRC, dealer had it listed for just shy of $28k.
They're out there, just have to search.

Trouble free mechanically so far. A few little warranty repairs, but nothing major.

Beeson 01-21-2019 06:02 PM

I usually never post one the 205 forum but my family just got a 2015 C300 Sport for $22k. Had 23k miles, 1 owner and came with Mercedes fitted car cover, Mercedes sunshade, Mercedes all-weather floor mats and new tires. The car is fully loaded with Burmester, real leather, AMG Line sport package, 19’s, vented seats, multimedia pack, and dual LED adaptive headlamps, plus pano roof and ambient lighting/ illuminated door sill plates. This was at a local dealer (dealer group has a Mercedes division but car was at a different dealer.) I would look hard for a much better deal as I feel 67k miles is a bit much for a car this new. But the car itself looks magnificent and drives very well. Must have options (imo) are the Burmester stereo (not THAT good, but better than most) and sport package for the sport seats and wheel.

I’ve had mine a year, I paid 29k it had 29k on it. Original sticker price was 56k. I’m into my CPO warranty now, I need to extend it before it expires the end of this year. Totally know what you mean about the base models, every time I get a loaner I realize how much I prefer mine. Real leather, pano roof, sports package, active led headlights, and the bigger Nav screen were musts when I shopped. I thought about getting the bigger engine but insurance I heard is double and I really do like how agile the 4 turbo feels tossing it around. MPG is decent, if you don’t push it. I can average anywhere from 20-33mpg it varies a lot.

Cali4niadriver 01-21-2019 06:25 PM

When I was also shopping around I might mention how popular that model with options is. Every dealer in California would list it and sell it almost immediately. It was really annoying, 7 different cars/dealers I went to sold right before I could even test drive. I found mine coming out of being certified so it wasn’t even listed for sale yet. Right place at the right time I guess. Still wish I had the light gray leather, the cranberry red I have is still nice but I like that black and light contrast.

victorbenz 01-21-2019 09:54 PM

Love the Cranberry red leather interior for me its either that or black, alright so I went and test drove it for an hour lol "I got lost" let me tell you it runs and drives absolutely great the steering wheel is so light, outside looks flawless except for a small dent on the back bumper, comes with Burmester audio, Pano roof, Black leather, and headliner, it feels amazing inside.. the Pano roof is awesome. illuminated interior heated seats, NO COOLED SEATS.. that was a bummer the other big bummer for me was No backup cam??? other than that LED front and back and illuminated door handle, drove it in Eco mode feels really smooth and the passing power is enough for me, now it did have two issues, the button for my headrest is broken off and when I click down on the right passenger rear window, it won't go back up, i told them before I buy that had to be fixed.. they said its because they just got it it was like that. also, I really like that cabin perfume thing. I almost bought it lol but I'm going to test drive a 2015 Lexus Is350 tomorrow and take yalls advice and look for more C300... I really freaking like it so far, I just want it to be reliable because I will be driving it more than 60 miles a day... oh and it's at 65,550, I probably put 50 while I was driving it loli DROVE that thing. I also took an engine clip because idk how its supposed to sound so ill upload here, maybe yall can spot out if it sounds odd or if something up, to me it sounded healthy and engine and transmission felt great.

Bonesxxx 01-21-2019 10:04 PM

I think the miles are too high IMHO. You are going to put 20,000 miles a year on it and in two years you will hit 100,000 and take a major depreciation hit.

If you find one with 25,000 miles on it, you’ll have what this one has in two years.

No brainer.

victorbenz 01-21-2019 10:13 PM

So didnt know how to attach the video but i put it on Drive, heres the link, lmk what you guys think, does it sound like a healthy c300 or not.

Sounds fine to me

victorbenz 01-21-2019 11:15 PM

Now I wonder whos driving a w205 C300, with more than 100k miles or over 150k miles... Btw found another one here in Houston with sports package but with Red interior with 38k miles for 25k it's a CPO, I'm taking a look tomorrow after the Lexus test drive. still, if I go with the Benz I'm praying to the Reliability gods lol. warranty or not. read on here that someone's piston went out on the 4 cylinder engine c300, that's scary for long trips lol.

victorbenz 01-22-2019 04:17 AM

I GUESS what I was looking for is wrist pin issue with that video.

You don't think a 2015 C300 will go 100k or 150k miles? Or was that just due to the age of the 2015s and not having a chance to get that high yet?

Cali4niadriver 01-23-2019 10:58 PM

I’m sure there’s some already at 100k. Especially since they’re used as taxis in Europe.

victorbenz 01-24-2019 01:36 AM

Welp, so I test drove Lexus and I'm definitely going for a Benz plus i read somewhere the I4 2.0T engine is one of the best modern engines... sure feels like it. and that's true wonder when they'll comment on their experience...

Love the Interior on C300 and the Led headlights nothing else beats it IMHO.

JAMADOR 01-24-2019 12:15 PM

I was initially pretty disappointed with the passive LED headlights in mine. Turns out, they were adjusted really high. Cranked them down & they're much better now, and the high beams actually work instead of just illuminating the moon.

The C300 i went to look at is the same as yours but no back up cam unfortunately.

Cali4niadriver 01-24-2019 06:26 PM

I couldn’t imagine not having a backup camera. I hate that I don’t have the 360° but that’ll be up there when I look for a new car. Whatever you do don’t get the halogen headlights they look terrible. Preferably get the active led’s but they’re not as common.
