PSA: Don’t Open Your Pano Roof
Okay folks, winter is upon us and the temps are dropping quickly. This is a warning to keep those Pano Roofs closed. If there’s ice on your roof, don’t open it. If there’s snow on your roof, don’t open it. If it’s below freezing out, don’t open it. These roof parts are weak plastic crap and will break easily. Every year someone comes on this site and complains that their Pano Roof broke. GL all and have a great winter.

That, my friend, seems like really good device. I think having icicles hanging down might be as bad as rain.

My car is now 4 years old, and in the year I've had it, have used the sunroof many times. I probably won't use it at all now. Does anyone have a handle on the incidence of sunroof failure?

It would be interesting to know the stats of MB pano roof failure, broken down to US/SA/Germany built vehicles. Mine was built in SA and shipped to Australia. Although it’s never failed in has been warranty repaired for rattles several times and now I’m not keen to open it any more. The vehicle is 4 years old and the plastic parts have had many heat cycles being parked in the Australian sun, I wonder if the newer models still have the same plastic parts fitted or has there been a materials improvement
