First Service - How do I get module updates
I have what is likely the first 2019 C series Cabriolet in Canada. I'm getting my first service next week. I worry that as as early adopter, I might have buggy software in the various modules. Does anyone know of any must-have updates, things that were buggy and should be re-programmed. Dealership's position is that unless you have a specific problem, we won't upgrade you to the latest software versions.

Just tell them you'll get service done else where. There were some recent posts saying both 2019's and pre 2019's had updates released for them. I believe the '19 update resolved an issue with the engine stalling. My dealership contacted me about the update last month about the update for my '15. It fixed an issue I was having with my transmission. During the winter it would jerk in and out of the 4th gear until the engine/transmission warmed up (Very common issue). Updates for these cars are critical. Dealership gets paid by Mercedes so they shouldn't have issues with installing them.

There are different kinds of updates. You are getting updates for the infotainment system over the air. You should get a message like "Your infotainment system has been updated" (or similar) every time that happens.
As for engine control/transmission control and other control modules, like your post states, the dealer will only update the software if there's a complaint that something is not functioning properly.
