Unhappy c400 19" run flat tires pressure for snow

Hey guys,
The factory oem tire pressure for the 19" run flats is too high. 39psi front and 44 rear. The car would not stop on snow, it's really dangerous.
What you guys run for tire pressure with the run flats on snow?
Thanks in advance.

You need to change out your worn out 5 year old OEM factory tires for new winter tires.

Are your 19" tires the summer tires that come with the car? or did you swap them out for all seasons?

I bought the car like two months ago with 30k miles. Plenty on thread left . I thought I only need to change tires when they are getting cracked or bold.

The car has 30k miles so I think they are the original tires.
They are continental contisportcontact ssr's.

I probably need to buy a new set of wheels with snow tires. But that would make the tpm lights come on right?

Conti sport contacts are summer only tires. You need dedicated winter tires to be safe when driving in cold and snowy regions.

If you don't want tpms for winter rims and tires, you won't get the pressure readings. If you don't have the readings nor metal valve stems, you might have abs tpms reader instead which mean you don't need to buy tpms.

Exactly what stockbmw said. You don't want to be driving in New England weather with summer tires. It's likely to get you injured or your car wrecked.

I bought a set of wheels and dedicated snow tires from TireRack for a decent price. The TPMS isn't an issue with our cars. When you mount the new wheels once you start driving the car will recognize the new TPMS values and from your dash you can tell the car to use those as the new TPMS data. Some other cars require some level of reprogramming, ours don't.

Something that my kids might say and instead of me going ballistic on them, I am here calmly.

Thanks for all the patience guys. I thought I had all seasons because of this car being a sedan and not a sports car. I will look for a set of wheels and install a dedicated snow tires.

Exactly. When I test drove the run-flats on snow, it was downright scary, even with 4-matic. I've driven decades of hard winters on a variety of tires but never anything as slick as the Conti RFs.

Frankly I think the stock Conti all seasons that came on my 18s were even garbage, which is why I run dedicated RF snow tires in the winter.

Also, bcnr33hideaki, I don't know if you have a staggered wheel setup but if you buy new rims for your snow tires you don't have to run staggered during the winter. It may be cheaper not to. I run all the same size 18s during the winter and swap my staggered wheels back on in the summer. I've had absolutely no issues over three winters. Just use the same pressure on your front and back tires.

I did the same with my C450. Went square on the snow tires rather than staggered.

Run flats at >40 PSI means no stopping at all on ice.

These tires are dangerous in the winter when the temperature drops below 40F / 5 C
