Oil Level Overfilled Warning?

Oil Level Overfilled Warning?
Does anyone know if the w205 will warn you if the oil level is overfilled? I see mention of this on the forums for the w203 and w204 but not the w205 and I didn't see anything in the manual. Only mention of an add oil warning. When I bought the car I noticed the oil was overfilled and mentioned it to a dealer and he just said don't worry the car will let you know if it's overfilled. I just had the oil done and noticed it's overfilled again... No warnings though. I'm curious if the car actually has an overfilled warning like the dealer said it did.

Hmm ok so I think it's safe to say if the 2019 has it a 2016 would have it as well? And I guess my next question would be as long as that notification doesn't come on it shouldn't be dangerously overfilled to the point of hurting the engine?

I had the overfill warning come on after an oil change at the dealer on my 2019 C300. The SA said it had happened several times before and that the sensor is too sensitive and detects a slight overfill which is not harmful. He said I can ignore it. It bothered me so I went back and they drained and refilled the oil.

Ok so they're 2 completely different systems then. I believe the w203 and w204 had dipsticks and still had oil overfilled warnings. Can anyone confirm if the 2016 c300 has that warning?

My 2019 overfilled warning came on for about 2 weeks, after the car was warm/driven for about 30 minutes and has now gone away. Guess I burned enough of it.....
This is/was a brand new car...with 30 miles on it.

Lol again from what I'm reading the 2019 looks to be a completely different system w/o a dipstick. The 2016 still has a dipstick. I'm only wondering if the 2016 has a notification for overfilled engine oil.

I have never seen the warning (either under or over) in our 2015 4matic - but I have never been either under or overfilled. When I have done an oil change I have never turned on the ignition to see if it would do it (under fill being empty) nor have I ever overfilled it. I have to believe since it has the oil fill sensor that the computer will send a service message to the dash for both under or over fill. Given a choice between a sensor and a dipstick, I'll believe the dipstick every time.
I went and looked at the EPC (for our 2015), and the oil level sender unit - part number A 001 153 13 32 - has sub-models that seem to indicate that the part is only for the 4matic on the w205 series so it may only be there for specific models - but that is just a guess. I have not run into this sub-model info much before (except color codes) so I have not tried to figure that out conclusively yet

That's a lot of good information! I guess really the only way to know would be to have it happen to your car or being a design engineer for the car. Is it something that would be in the manual? I tried looking but couldn't find anything.

How did you "notice" it was overfilled?
also, how many quarts does it show was used on your invoice?

I noticed by checking the old fashion way, looking at the dip stick. When I mentioned it to the service advisor he kept saying it'll show a message that the oil is overfilled if it's enough to be an issue. Either way I took it back and they corrected the overfill, I don't think it was overfilled by a massive amount. I'd have to look at the invoice but I'm sure they put in the capacity of the engine. I'm assuming what happened is they rushed the drain, didn't warm the oil up before draining, and just dumped in the amount called out and called it a day. At this point I'm mostly curious if my car has a feature that will notify you of an overfill because I think that's pretty cool. And I read the previous generations did and the 2019's do but haven't read anything about the 2016 having it which is strange.

Sounds like you need to pick a new "advisor" as he is treating customers like they are idiots.
BTW, Manual says there are three visible oil warnings, but only for oil too low conditions.

Lol believe me I've already chosen a new dealership. Yup that's exactly what I found as well. He said it would show up in the messages section of the dash, it's not a light.
