I heard the news. I am sure in the future, everyone will want to avoid any car that was manufactured during the covid era! I can't imagine how much disruption all of this virus has caused on an assembly line!

No real surprise. Many manufacturers are decreasing or dropping many of their sedans in favor of SUVs.

Mercedes is not ending production, just not making the cars in the USA for various reasons...

This current pandemic gives many automakers an excuse to re-set and re-calibrate their offerings and production. Yes, fewer sedans, coupes and more SUV variants for sure.

C300 Wagon
My Canadian C300 wagon was built in the Bremen facility. This is the lead plant for all C Class cars. 2 years old and no issues, great build quality!
Maybe all next gen C Class will come in from Germany????

Not happening. Not to say some C's might still be built in Germany but not all. Especially with the tariffs and cost increases. Will need to produce in cheaper countries to remain competitive. Look for E, S classes and above along with 63's to remain in Germany. Maybe a few outlier models as well. All others will eventually be sourced to other countries.

The Bremen plant is primarily building the wagon, coupe and cabriolet and this will probably not change. But outside of the USA sedan production, most sedans were built in South Africa and China for the other markets. The USA production from the looks of it is moving to South Africa. This transition actually has been going on for while before the official announcement. I noticed a while ago that most of the recent C300 and C43 on dealer lots were built in South Africa already. It's obvious from the VIN. The C63/S sedan was continued to be built in Alabama. I'm guessing it's the last C class sedan model that will move production completely to South Africa.

Remaining 21 W205's will now come from only South Africa for the whole world until the W206 comes on line sometime in 2021. Bremen has already stopped W205 sedan production. W206 will be supplied from Bremen, S Africa, and Beijing for the Chinese market. US Bound cars will probably all come from S Africa. The C Class coupe and vert are done after this generation. The C/E coupe and vert will merge into a new CLE coupe/vert. Production will start around 2022 in Bremen. Next gen GLC will be supported out of the old S Class hall in Sindelfingen and out of Bremen. Not sure if GLC assembly will continue in Finland at Valmet for the next gen. C Class sedans/wagons are assembled on the same line as the GLC/GLC Coupe in Bremen.
