Stop Vehicle, Shift to P, Leave Engine Running
Message has popped up on the dash display.
Can starts & runs fine. Hooking up to a charger on the main battery has no effect.
Have read it may be the aux battery/voltage reducer. Is this the likely culprit? Definitely a lot cheaper to replace than the main battery or alternator.

There are lots of threads on this topic online and some say replacing aux battery/capacitor fixed theirs. I tried aux battery replacement but didn't work for me. Maybe the part I got was a defect... or another possibility is that the front SAM module is acting up.

put my car at the dealer last month and 1 of the cells from the main battery was damaged so they replaced my battery
sad part is now my start stop function works again every time :/

I apologize for bringing up this old thread. I had a similar issue with my vehicle recently; it turns out that I had a discharged battery which is a common cause for this issue. Then you can jump to the conclusion that you had a defective voltage regulator on your alternator w\that is responsible for charging your car’s battery. I did a lot of searches on this issue and came across an in-depth article that may be worth reading.
