Automatic tailgate not opening fully?!

Hi all!

Ok, so as title suggests the automatic tailgate on my C Class estate is no longer opening fully! It was fine up until about 6 hours ago and now randomly only opens about half way.

I have tried to reset the limiter via the tailgate button on the boot itself but there is no tone.

However, when I open the tailgate, press the button (before it gets to half way) and hold it again I hear the tone that it has set the limiter.

Then, re-open the tailgate and it stops where I’ve just set it.
From that point I’ve manually opened it fully and hold the the tailgate button again and hear two tones which should reset the limiter.

So now I’d expect it to open fully however, it reverts back to only opening half way again?!

please help! TIA.

Hi, I have the same problem...were you able to resolve this issue with the tailgate?

I assume you have checked the vehicle settings to make sure the trunk limiter isn’t on?

I don't have that option in my vehicle settings menu (I've scrolled all the way down the menu)...maybe because it's a wagon?

If it is a wagon try holding on the trunk button at the back until you hear beeps. Not sure if the behaviour is the same as an SUV, older MB SUVs for example have it in the actual button where the liftgate is.
