So long, sold my 2017 C300

Guys, I sold my 2017 C300 today for $1500 more than I purchased her for. I had it for 1 1/2 year and for 12K miles.
The good: Gas mileage 30.1 miles to a gallon in mixed driving
The bad: 1. Piston cracking (did not happen to me but this was the #1 reason I sold it.
2. A/C was lame as it would never cool the cabin sufficiently in the summer.
3. Lumpy shifting in 1-2-3 or 3-2-1 gears. Resetting did not help. Stealer said it was designed like that.
4. Driver seat was never really comfortable for me.
5. Lots of unnecessary/expensive to fix technology. Never cared for HUD, parktronic and distronic features. But I liked the navigation, backup camera and blind spot monitoring.
6. Airmatic. Never gave me trouble but $$$ to fix.
7. RFT's were terrible. I mean Terrible with capital T!
8. No spare tire!
9. It was difficult to fill up as it kept clicking down and at the end it sucked the nozzle to the filler hole so tight that I had a hard time removing it. Dealer said find a different pump. Hmm..
10. Of course door handle lights went out! Also the puddle light in the outside rearview mirror.
12. Paddle shifters were broke. Got this fixed under warranty.
13. Upper oil pan was leaking pretty bad. Got it fixed under warranty.
14. Air fragrance!
15. Cheap interior aluminum and wood trim.
The ugly: I will miss the W205 board as I learned a lot and enjoyed reading helpful posts.

I guess it is ADIOS time, me amigos!

Congrats on the sale. I agree with your #1 reason.

What did you replace it with? Pics?

#1 reason: you sold your beloved car because of something that didn't happen to it. I am confused.

I usually keep my vehicles to 10-12 years and just didn't want to take a chance blowing up the engine out of warranty. BTW I did not ever say I loved the C300. In the other hand I loved my 2005 CLK 320!

Sold my 2016 C300 with 69K miles to Shift on Monday for some of the same reasons as you. My CPO extended warranty was due to expire in December and I was concerned about the possibility of piston cracking as well as my panoramic sunroof breaking. Either repair would be a financial nightmare. Shift offered me a great deal on the car and it was a good time to sell. I had the car for nearly 3 years and it was a mixed bag. I was peeved the clear coat started to peel on the plastic panel next to the sunroof and the dealer refused to fix it under my CPO warranty, especially when I was only 5K miles outside of the regular warranty. I had the low pressure fuel hose to high pressure fuel pump issue and was incredibly upset when my local dealer refused to pay for it, saying it was a wear and tear item not covered by the manufacturer's CPO warranty (thankfully, MBUSA decided to rectify the problem by promising a refund a couple years later).

That said, I loved the way my C300 drove, loved the way it behaved on smooth roads (rough asphalt or potholes were another story with the stock runflats), and loved the way it looked on the inside and out. I had the gorgeous designo cardinal red color, which made it quite a looker. There are definitely things I will miss about my car, and I may get another Benz down the line (this was my first). In case anyone is curious, I got a new Volvo XC40 for $2,500 under sticker, which is practically unheard of in this environment.

Good deal making a few bucks off a car you put 12K miles on.

I just rolled 165,000 on my 2016 c300. I haven't had any of the issues you noted other than an occasional rough downshift between 5-4 when the car is cold - usually below 30 degrees, once it warms up it is good. Also, cheap chrome trim peeling and the headliner bubbling in the corners. Everything else is great.

I don't think I could get too much out of it if I sold it so I guess I am in it for the long haul. Didn't think the piston thing was an issue with 2016, just 2015?

Cracked pistons have been reported on model years as late as 2018. C-, E-, and GLC- models are affected with the M274 engine.

2015 W205
I sold my 2015 C300 with 110,000 miles on it in March of this year. Mainly because I could not trust it mechanically. My previous Toyota I kept for 10 years and 256,000 miles. My major issues below. I also had a ton of smaller issues as well (like the bleeding seats etc)

1) Engine rebuild at 16,000 miles because of wrist pin design error
2) Engine replacement at 46,000 miles with cracked #1 piston
3) Engine pulled a third time due to an oil leak between the motor and transmission from a seal failure
4) Touchpad replaced 3x due to cracking
5) Front right lower control arm replaced at 60,000 miles due to ball joint failure
6) Front left lower control arm making same noise when sold, needed replacement
7) Sunroof had not been opened in 3 years due to not wanting to deal with out of warranty failure
8) Power steering would fail every 2 weeks mid drive when sold. Pulling battery cable would reset it, until it failed again
9) I got the dreaded P052E : Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve error at 62,000 miles. Luckily covered by extended warranty
10) Two cracked 18 inch rims, no huge pothole hits the days before

I loved the car interior and the experience of driving it. But mechanically it was a turd. I did not trust that it would not break down every 10 minutes. I had all of the electronic driving aids crash at least 4x during ownership mid drive. It also need new tires when sold, so I saved a $1000 selling when I did.

I would love to own another Mercedes, the design, styling, and technology is great. However I never will buy one again after my experience and will not recommend one to anyone

C200 AMG line 2015 German built. 100 k kms. 3 years of ownership always maintained at the dealer. I replaced main and auxiliary battery and done Services As and Bs. Not one single mechanical or any other failure. Touch wood all good so far. Now why the difference i don't know. Is it German vs US built? Maybe.

Possibly the C200 with its 23% less torque compared with the C300 has a wider margin for error.

Probably. You know I also played with my car: Brabus tune box, Racechip Pedal Commander, Armytrix exhaust system with its downpipe, K&N filter, ect...
