S205 C300 stiff steering issues
Hi guys,
I've been having some issues with my original steering rack and the dealer told me I need to replace it. They recommended a refurbished one as it has the same 2 year warranty and it is factory refurbished by Mercedes. After they installed the first one the steering is heavy (almost no assist) while the car is parked. It gets better once the speed goes up but still on the heavy side. I went back to the dealer and we tested other cars with the same model (c300 2018 coupe modelyear 2019 facelift with EPS) all of them were amazingly light. Eventually they ended up ordering a new refurbished steering rack and the second one had the same issue. After the dealer did some investigations (as they said) and took apart the steering column they could not find any issues and ordered a new one but this time it was brand new.
Is there a possibility that could be something else wrong with the car ? I would assume that they could not program the 2 refurbished ones but other than that I see no issues. There are no fault codes or error messages on the dash (never had any). Car has 96000 km.
