Squeaking noise
A couple of days ago I was driving my car (W205 ‘19 C300) with the radio off when I heard a low volume but high pitch squeezing sound behind my ear. It was intermittent, and didn’t last the entire time I was driving. It also didn’t occur when I was driving over speed bumps or turning the steering wheel. Initially I thought it was coming from inside the car, but I just couldn’t pinpoint a source.
Fast forward today and I took my car to the mechanic. Annoyingly there was no sound. He checked that the wheels were all torqued correctly (they were) and had a look at the rear brake discs (which were close to wearing). He suggested that they might be the cause for the squeaking. However the squeaking never occurs when I’m braking. Also, the sensors on my car haven’t gone off to say that the brake pads need replacing. Regardless, I’m replacing the rear pads but I’m not convinced that this is the cause.
I’ve also pushed down the car (front and back) when stationary and can’t replicate the sound.
its driving me nuts and I want to find out what it could be. Does anyone have any suggestions at all?
I’ve attached an audio recording of the sound. Skip towards the end to properly hear it.
Many thanks!
