Starting the wheels in motion to move my E55 within the year or so and go TT.
Sorry if Benz is reading this. Don't mean to hurt sales on this package, but so far there is no need for PP package with modern tuners correct?
Thanks guys

Performance Package includes the following features in addition to the power upgrades:
Carbon fiber engine cover
AMG steering wheel
Sport Suspension
If engine power boost is your only concern than you won't need the Performance Package if your going to tune.
It would also be ideal to tune the car at least 6 months after putting a good amount of miles on it. Just to make sure if there is anything defective that it would go out before tuning it. Things can still go wrong later but at least you will reduce your odds.
A friend of mine is a MB mechanic and he said he replaced a $5k command unit that went bad under 100 miles.

I paid less than cost for my car (into dealer holdback) so essentially i paid about 6k for my PP. Is it worth it to me without getting a tune- hands down it is all day. The steering wheel and carbon fiber goodies are nice but the suspension makes a huge difference for me as I really want the better handler. Iheard the upgrade dampeners are close to 1k each (I might be off here). Oh we also get red painted calipers!!!!
So is the 550hp and 590tq enough with the PP, for some it will be but a tune will make it even stronger of course and will bring non PP tuned cars up to the tuned PP level as well. Either way Im good. Its only money.

I would absolutely still go for the PP package and get the tune. As mentioned the PP package comes with all the other goodies. I went with the Vtech tune and couldn't be happier!
