If you haven't ordered your car yet then definitely go with the OEM LSD

The OEM LSD is 2030 dollars msrp on the window sticker---- cant believe the part would be any more.
Install would be the same as any OEM IMHO: labor, seals, fluids... |
I think th OEM is only 30% locking. I would go Renntech

Keep in mind that $2030 is the upgrade cost for the basic differential that's already given with the price of the car. It's not the cost for a complete LSD differential. Don't be surprised if complete OEM LSD off the parts counter is double, or even triple that of the $2030 upgrade price ;)

Where did you see the OEM stat? -- I assumed AMG would make one with 100% locking like the BMW M differential. Now I am wondering about whether the Renntech LSD is a worthwhile upgrade for more traction (I have the OEM LSD). |

I don't think that 30% stat is correct. At least I'm hoping it's not correct :) |

My 2004 E55 with the Euro LSD (oem) was 40% locking... let me get more info
Limited Slip Differential with 40% lock From this article http://www.egmcartech.com/2011/04/25...arts-at-94900/ |
Thanks everyone for all the great info.

Just to clarify, the Renntech is the only aftermarket LSD available, they use some OS Giken hardware which are thoroughly proven. I talked to Quaife when we got the car in October, then talked to them again last month nothing in the works right now. The reason the C63 E55 worked out was because it crossed over to the SRT8 chassis.
Renntech FTW!!!!! |
