My kid left one of the doors open and drained my battery. I jump it and hit the road. First red light and the eco turns my car off and won't start again!!! As you know its in the shop and I told them to find a way to disable it. Its terrible and a joke for people who are spending 100K on a car that gets 12 MPG. I'll let you know...

A simple programming of the AMG button is all it takes. Yes you have to push the button and for some it seems unfathomable that this should occur but like I said- push the button and ECO is gone.

My 997TT requires two pushes (sport mode and spoiler up mode).
My GTR requires three push and holds (RRR mode)
My prior BMW M's all required a M button push... the list goes on.

You will have to program your AMG button with your preferred settings. Then after you start the car, hit the AMG button and all your presets will enable. There is no default way to turn start/stop off.

Cayenne S
Standard equipment is the stop/start function: it is permanently active in the transmission's Controlled Efficiency ("C") mode, and switches the eight-cylinder engine off when the car comes to a stop. At the same time, "C" mode also means a "soft" accelerator response set-up with convenient and early gearshifts; moving off generally takes place in second gear. A green "ECO" symbol in the AMG instrument cluster shows the driver that the stop/start function is active.

The engine and transmission come across as much more agile in the "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport plus) and "M" (Manual) modes; in addition, the stop/start function is switched off. In "S" and "M" modes, the engine management system partially suppresses the cylinders: interrupting ignition and injection under full load leads to even faster gearshifts than before. The highly emotional vocals are an appealing side effect of this lightning-fast process.

The posted MPG is 14/20 I believe. I'm mostly in stop and go stuff and I drive hard but I think I average in the 12-14 range.

I hear you all on the AMG button or you can just set it to S or S+ BUT the MB guy told me its important to warm it up to 180 before you messing with the setting. Is that not true?

So what is your overall favorite setting for sound and quickness? Im hearing RS is not the best way to get off the line.

this is what I found...

Mercedes-Benz says EPA fuel economy estimates with the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed transmission are 16 mpg in city driving and 21 mpg on the highway for both versions of the biturbo 5.5-liter V8.

My 2006 CLS 55 averaged 14.7 mpg through 60,000 miles. So far, with 7500 miles, my 12 CLS 63 averages 15 mpg. I don't think the eco start/stop has any thing to do with the small improvement, rather it is probably the change from a 5 speed transmission to a 7 speed.

I find the eco start/stop to be an annoying gimmick. It has to shorten the life of both the starter and battery. If tuners can reprogram the ecu, it would seem to be easier to create a program to permenantly kill this stupid function.
I'd pay good money for that!

A simple relay switch can take care of this. As soon as engine starts the relay could be used to trigger the AMG button. No need for programing, need a relay with a 1 or 2 second delay IMO nothing more and the wiring would be pretty straight forward.
