what is different other than the downpipes ? 685WHP is a lot for just ECU and Downpipes, most ive seen is about 640-650 to the wheels and that was with a renntech ecu.

I am debating doing the downpipes as my C63 with catless pipes was border line too loud. I would hope the turbos muffles the sound a bit.
What set up do you have and do you feel the downpipes are that much better than just a resonator delete? Some people claim you do not get any hp boost with downpipes?

I got downpipes for some reasons first I didn't want to cut and weld my stock exhaust so they are bolt-on. The only real downpipes from turbo housing from Weistec only
If you want to get most power from this engine with only bolts on go with Weistec downpipes and tune because their tune is different than regular tune most tuners don't have tune for downpipes they just turn the O2 sensor off. I'm going with Weistec for future mods since they have almost everything for the M157 from Ecu tune to cooling system and turbo upgrade nothing wrong with my current setup

No, a tune will work wonders on a CLS550 as well. I have a friend who did it and after a quick test drive, his car feels about as rapid as a stock AMG.
