W218 Tune Options
Now, this is a subject that is very subjective from the consumer and in some ways factual by the tuner based purely on the data they provide.
If we were to look at the short list of options below, what are your thoughts either through first hand experience or otherwise? I would say the most objective members likely have had tunes from one or more companies on the list.
Myself, I have an OE Tune on the GL and it is great but I can't speak to the others unfortunately and I want to get a tune for the CLS63 and want to factor in price, performance, quality, and the intangible "feel" of my options.
In no particular order:
Company----- HP----- Torque----- Price
VR Tuned----- 630----- 680 ------ $2,000
OE Tuned ----- 660----- 740 ----- $1,295 (20% for being previous cust)
Renntech----- 669----- 734 ----- $3,390
Weistec ----- 608----- 660----- $2,950
Kleemann ----- 690----- 950----- $3,190
EVOMsit ----- 622 ----- 684 ----- $2,950
AMS ----- 700------ 830 ------- $2,995
Eurocharged----- +85------- +100------- $1,499 (Stage 1- Sale- pricing shows $2,995 for Stage 2)
Switzer----- 700------ 800------ TBD (Pricing on site is for full package with exhaust, filters, etc. $8,995)
Maybe we can approach this without getting into a pissing match about it and just agree to disagree if someone doesn't go along with your review.
The Kleemann numbers look crazy being so high and even being one of the more expensive ones, you'd have to really take a hard look at them.
Love to hear your thoughts, especially those that have or have had a Kleemann tune.

Our tune is on sale right now for $1499, and we have one hell of a warranty (pretty important in this game)
I have Weistec tune on my CLS63. Have had problems with burning through plugs, but last week I drove to Weistec so they could update my tune and lets just say it is a night and day difference. The car drives so much better, and I have not burned any more plugs as of yet...The guys down there were very cordial.
My neighbor had Renntech on his CLS63 and he had no problems. We haven't had a chance to run our cars and he just recently traded it in for the RS7 till the new CLS63 comes in.
I have done A LOT of biz with AMS. And hands down these guys are amazing. I have said it on here before about how I feel about AMS. When you spend a good amount of money with a company you expect certain amount of CS, and Eric at AMS goes beyond that...Now if AMS could some how work together with Cobb, Ecutek, or something similar I believe they would shut down the game. Having a way to select tunes, log, etc with out always sending the ECU in for a update would be AMAZING!!!
That was just my 2 cents. Just to be fair you guys should also add Switzer to the list, they are also in the M157 game.
Aloha,
Will

quantitative data is essential for comparing these mods.
my results with tune and filters only
0-60 3.2
1/4 11.14 @125mph
Next I will add downpipes, exhaust and air box. I am awaiting AMS to produce results for their air box (and price) and I will go full bolt-ons.
BTW, has anyone actually tried Weistecs down pipes? No one has ever provided anectodal impressions.

RENNtech did update their tune for the M157 and I will try to get it done ASAP and report back. I will Vbox before and after.
Got to be careful and make sure you are comparing apples to apples here.
Should ask if the published results are crank or wheel HP and what type of dyno was used, the location where the dyno test was performed, what fuel was used and what was the exact combination tested.
It also be nice to see the actual dyno charts and not one that was draw up.
It would also be good to know, if they would tell you, what changes where made to get that result.
