My fading side mirrors from MAcarbon

Greeting CLS drivers and anyone considering MAcarbon CF side mirror shells.

I bought them on 9.13.13 at a cost of 1570.00

being beaten by the sun, the housing has faded quite a bit and become very flat and not glossy anymore.........I can understand the wear and tear aspect of AM parts aging, seems normal right? right?

I emailed MAcarbon to merely inquire about the mirrors.........I got an email back from a concerned employee telling me it seems I'm right.....
it was forwarded to someone higher on the food chain.....

after weeks of waiting, (and being told, yes, those seem to have a legitimate concern) I still have not been given a solution to this issue.....

A year or so ago I was also \trying to get a center console made from MAcarbon.........weeks and weeks passed, as did email after email.......I finally just gave up on the center console.......

This is just an example of the lack of continuing customer service from MAcarbon,

I feel I have been patient and am now tired of waiting.....don't think I will be using them again and wanted to let the community know that communication with MAcarbon is a real pain in the ****

For the record: the merchandise is okay.......just not happy with all the empty promises and attempt at customer service

UPDATE:

I just received an email: evidently they are making me a new set and are going to ship them out by Wednesday...........that seems pretty incredible to me and I hope they do actually arrive

Will update this thread when I know more:

I will say THAT is some good customer service and if I do get replacements I will be completely satisfied

I can't possibly compare the quality, but $1600 for CF mirror shells? $100 shells can be found all over eBay and the ones I've seen would likely pass for OEM.

I'm glad everything was straightened out.

I have a dependable guy who does amazing carbon fiber work. Let me know if you ever need any help.

I'm looking into doing the interior conversion. I have the black leather with burl walnut trim in my CLS & I do not like it. So I was hunting down part numbers for carbon trim. Did the CLS63s come with carbon trim around the shifter? When I looked at pictures I've only seen the piano black in that spot. Also, how would I go about getting the carbon trim around that area in the 550? The CLS550 has cupholders there & the CLS63 has the shifter there. Just curious. That piece wouldn't be a factory AMG piece. I was thinking about just doing that section in piano black & the rest in carbon.

I agree, that doesn't sound like a great color combo......the black against the brown trim would bother me.....
yes, the surround was/is black which bugs the hell out of me
as far as the center console, a custom piece would have to be made as far as I know as it isn't made for the CLS....
if you do CF will you add any other spots not done already?
guess it helps to find a good custom CF shop; it isn't inexpensive to get good quality parts made......I'd even settle for the center console to be wrapped or hydro dipped
the pics I posted above make me so jealous lol

I didn't realize that MB made Piano Black Lacquer as an option for the CLS550. On the brochure it's listed as an AMG option only. But while browsing part numbers on different sites I found the Piano Black piece for the ashtray cover, temp panel trim, & the front console trim plate. So if I deem a custom carbon piece as being too expensive I'd just go with those piano black trim pieces like MB did your vehicle.

And yes, those above pictures make me want to swap my interior trim like yesterday. Lol.

my biggest gripe with the console in black, besides how it sort of clashes, is that dust shows up very well, and unless you have an air can it's tough to keep perfectly clean.........and yes, I do use an air can lol, it's an amazing way to get in the tiny spots
I wish MACarbon would do one for me

Oh well.

I read a thread on here where a guy had is interior trim removed & sent off for carbon work. He said the shop he sent it to shaved down his original trim & laid the carbon over the top of the OEM trim. I believe he had an R63. Maybe that can be an option for you.

Cool. Do you have any pictures? Looks like they specialize in Audis. No MB pics on their site.

vdubpower, I checked your threads & your pics of the carbon work are deleted from the post. I even clicked on em to go to Photobucket & they weren't there.
