Want a 2014 cls63 amg

So, I've been looking around for a 2014 cls63 amg and still just trying to figure out the car itself. Not sure the durability of the cars and what to look for and what are common fails within the vehicle, common maintenance and unexpected repairs. Read some posts saying higher miles is the way to go to save $$ since cars seem to last well, I'm kind of still hoping to find lower mile car. For me, this would be a daily driver with real short trips, but weekends would be like 200mile+ trips with in-between long trips randomly and need something that I can rely on. I just have this sort of fear of getting stuck in middle of the road and having to dump a ton of money to get towed and fixed. Since I've been in a frugal stage last few years driving a ford exploder and literally its taken my wallet for a ride with all the break down episodes. The only thing is that parts are much cheaper on that piece of junk as compared to MB. Now I'm desperate to get out of the world of box on wheels and back to where I want to be.. Decent luxury car with good power.

I'd love any comments or suggestions, maybe ownership experiences and how many years/miles you guys been on the road with your 63's. I also played with the idea of going for a 550, but it just isn't the same thing. Feel like 63 is in its own prestige class.

thanks in advance.

Morning and welcome to the forums!

I bought my CLS 63 new in 2012 and it has been one solid, dependable ride! I have been daily driving it since April of this year and it's been great! GREAT! I have never had an issue with any components or mechanical parts in this time either!
Blew lots of money on an ELW and wish I DIDN'T do that! I have lots of CF on the exterior, and a couple of sets of HRE's for the thing..........that's all I've spent........for mods!
My experience with the cls has been a great one.

Good luck and make sure to post up when it's done!

Thanks for the encouragement. Can't really get into a new one since the price tag on those is a bit much of what I'm trying to spend. Hoping I can get a nice 2014 and keep for about 6 years. But maybe most of the depreciation has already taken place in the first 3-4 years and I might even be able to upgrade 3 years down the line if opportunity presents.

A '14 should be very doable and will have the depreciation hit on it.......find one that wasn't tuned or had engine mods for better reliability . Also, get ready for the repair costs if and when something does crap out on you......get a PPI from a GOOD indy.....I wouldn't trust a dealer for an honest PPI unfortunately........just not trustworthy........any good indy shop's in your area?
Forgot to mention mine has almost 42K miles on it

I'm trying to understand.... What's an indy shop? That just a local privately owned auto repair shop? If so, why does everyone call them indy shop? In terms of dealer, I was thinking of maybe trying to get a certified car or maybe buying private or dealer auction and then taking to dealer to get certified.

indy basically just means an independent shop. hes right though, the dealership might not be trustworthy for the ppi

as far as breaking down or being stuck and having to get a tow ive never experienced that or know anyone that has yet but its def way less likely than a ford.

and i havent had any super expensive repair costs at all because I dont get work done at the stealership and you shouldn't either unless its covered under warranty.

the car will not disappoint. I'm assuming you want 2014+ because its awd

this was my first mercedes and it has only made me want another mercedes and another one and another one

Sorry, it's a shop that ONLY works on MB cars, like the link in my sig; check out how informative they are, lower prices and WAY better customer relations as there are only 3 or 4 techs; all originally from MB themselves and the owner is also originally from MB.....all certified guys too! You can walk around in the shop, ask questions, and it's not the dealer. I have been going to the same one for about 10 years now! Would only go to the dealer, as AMG BOY mentioned, for warranty related issues: that will arise. I feel pretty damn lucky to have this sort of service nearby and recommend looking in your area for one as well. Hell, they even have loaners!

Thanks for the explanation, i figured later on what indy means and typically go to a local shop like this anyway. Also, do lots of work myself as much as i can. Very happy to hear about not having issues, this exploder has me on the edge already. I used to drive all Infiniti cars typically. then i went broke and this ford happened. You're right on point with the 2014, i want the AWD option because of winter seasons and snow. want to be able to drive out to Canada if i feel like in snow.

wow. never heard of strictly MB, or other brand mechanics. typically around here its mostly dealers since most people lease and if you have a used car, you just go to a mom/pop shop where they work on all makes/models
