2014 CLS 63 AMG PP

Hey Guys!

I'm looking to buy my first AMG. Already expecting to pay a ton in maintenance cost. I found one I really like with 58k miles on it. What are somethings I should be aware of for this platform?
What should I look at in terms of a W218 with 57k miles on it tuned with the Performance Package on it at 700hp. How well built are the platform on these bad boys and what is all included in the Performance Package with these?

Any advice or tips and tricks will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

AMG’s are very well built, as you can imagine. You can save on maintenance items like brakes by going to FCP Euro. Saved myself an easy $3k that way. Front suspension can be an issue. Performance pack is basically extra power, red calipers and an oil cooler if I’m not mistaken.

Thanks! I know all about FCP Euro due to Alex from Legit street racer on YouTube. Does the performance pack come with any different engine internals like the W204 C63 does? One of the biggest reasons why I want an AMG is because the engines are supposed to be practically bullet proof if taken care properly. Just trying to get some inside details on anything I should be aware about on the W218.

Oi welcome to the forums,

At that mileage, which is similar to my 2012, is probably coming up on some maintenance soon at the 60K mark......or might have been done already due to tune? Plugs, brake flush, Oil change maybe brakes etc.....those things can add up......along with unforeseen issue that may arise.
I have been really pleased with build quality and reliability although some things are, expectedly, beginning to fail.

The M157’s internals are pretty strong from the factory but that said, if you go to Tasos Moaschatos’ Youtube channel you’ll see a bunch of them in pieces. When tuned and beaten the motors will bend rods. I absolutely do not get on the throttle until my engine oil is up to temp, as he cites that as a major contributing factor.

Do you think it would be better to get one after the 60k mark then and after someone else has put in some money for the 60k maintenance if it hasn't been done already? I already have budgeted new brakes and a full maintenance but if I can save some extra bucks by having it already done then I can get into modding it more quickly.

Is this a dealer or private sale? I doubt the seller wants to put the money towards 60K service, probably wants to pass it on to buyer........
