It is a nice upgrade and not a down grade as the reduction in piston count may indicate. A large real racing 4 piston brembo will out brake both the 8 and 6 piston calipers as well.

I drove the E63 the other week, and all I can say is WOW to the braking. So much better than the 55.
Took some pictures too. And made a review with a video. The review is Dutch, but the video at the bottom and the pictures are worth while, even if I say so myself.
