2nd clash with 997

Ok , this time was not so good for the sixty three....Car said Turbo on back , huge tires interesting exhaust..I would like to say I got a look at the side but seems i could not pass and he pulled away prior to my shift. Seems like there was a delay prior to the car really taking off and I felt the pedal click something on the floor. Also I was in d sport but the car still launched in 2nd, we raced from a 5-7 mph roll and man that car was quick made me feel stationary for a second, more like an 1/8th of a second but it was enough to simply give up , this car was not to be touched.. It said (speed gallery) on the plate frame, black on black.. Course my wife and dog were in the car....Man it was fun, please advise on how to get the 63 to start in 1st in sport..I am 18 days past service A and the car smelled funny after the little bout? Going for service tomorrow if anyone wants to grab coffee on the westside(SM)..Night

You have your DOG in the 63? Dude, it's time you get a work-car like an SUV as a dogmobile.

Like I said in another earlier post by you, you gotta learn to drive your car. Go to a deserted stretch of road or something if you can't go to the tracks. Learn to launch in many simulated scenarios.

997 TT is going to be tough to beat, and if he had a tiptronic even tougher.

Yeah man stop racing those cars until you know how to launch in first at least.

You have to hit the down lever until it shows 1 in the display. Depending on your driving you'll launch in either 1 or 2. If you're gonna race keep it in S mode but shift all the way down before hitting it.

Sounds like you found a real race car out there though, tough to be those with a dog and wife in the car.

I know 007007 or whatever his name is will tell you that you could have beat him in a 55 in 3, 2, 1 ...

LOL,

The dog loves the CLS, he sits upfront with the wife. It really was not that bad I kept up but I understand your dis-belief on my opther 997 story. This is a very very quick car when driven correctly. I am sure the CLS can stay on its tail but now I know better than to mess w/them(997), course what is the fun in crushing M cars all day? I do need to learn to drive especially launch this car, the 55 although seemingly more difficult to launch I guess fit my driving style better, the CLS with the extra gears and more linear power is trickier IMO. In the 55 traction was the biggest issue than heat but the car never got too hot on the short WOT runs. I know this ClS is best to me in 3rd gear, I think this car from 70-185 would be SIK...Honestly the CLS is faster than folks think, I guess it is because it looks so purty.

I was sure when I first used D SPORT the car started in first....Going for service A today , feel like my first day at school. By the way 0700 says his 55k would eat your 63 4 dinner LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLOL

No, me thinks 0700700 would eat his 63 for lunch, then spits it out and says in disgust "yuck! a 63? where's the torque?"

cls63 / 997

I own a 996tt and a cls63. My 996 has over 500hp. I wouldn't even try racing a stock 996tt, 997tt or even a regular 997s in my cls. They will all easily beat the cls63/55. It's appeals and oranges. However, I did beat a 996c4s yesterday in the 63.

yeah I read the same thing in the manual, but it's certainly not true. Just because you're in S mode does NOT mean you're starting in first every time. It may be the case with the 5 speed but certainly not with the 7 speed.

where did i say that ? ... what i would tell you is that a 55k would suffer less than a 63 from a start in 2nd gear, because of the low down torque

if the 996tt had an automatic gearbox, you would stand a chance... Its 0-60 is what 4.7s?

I had a stage III 996TT from Speed Gallery- very very fast. I dont know what mods that 997TT you raced had but I hear the turbos are harder to mod. Either way the 997TT is a great stoplight racer so I wouldnt feel like your car let you down (not that you said it did).

Car was from speed gallery and seemed extra wide in back, black, did say turbo and the exhaust pipes seemed stacked. The rear tires were HUGE.(wide)
I wonder if this was a tuned 996tt, it did appear a bit different than the brand spanking new 997 I actually got the jump on back in Dec. Was your car BLACK? LOL...

Even in S my 63 does not start in 1st until after the first time I give it a good punch. It doesnt need to be from the launch, just any punch over a normal acceleration and then it will always go in 1st until you change the setting. Hope this helps. If yours didnt start in 1st after you made the pass on the p-car, well then you have a problem.

Service advisor is checking the car. From a stop in S mode I thought it should shift into 1st, it did when I first used S @ 1000 miles, now it seem higher reving but still starting in 2nd and taking longer to shift . Hopefully everything is ok. Next time I will make sure I start in 1st or race the little 2 seater from a roll lol

Next time don't race a guy who is in a completely different class than you and you should be fine. Anyone with a decal that has the word "race" is probably going to represent, especially when their car costs more than yours as is the case with the 997TT.
