Trip report....Keyless Go issue..

Just came back from a nice trip to Santa Barbara. What a beautiful place it is, weather was great, the people were friendly, and the Four Seasons was great hotel. The car was great on the road, aside from 1500 miles in Europe this was our first road trip in the car. About 600 miles round trip, ran like a champ as usual, averaged about 19 MPG. The seats are so comfy compared to my Cayenne.
When we pulled in the hotel I let the valet park it just a few feet away as we were heading back out for a sunset cruise, anyway one of the valets was so enthused about the car, it was great to see his enthusiasm, he even noticed every aesthetic mod I had done to the car, the Brabus rims, spoiler, door pins, clear markers, I was impressed, thumbs up to the Valet guys!

Anyways just checking if anyone has had this issue with their keyless go, when I try to open the drivers door, it won't unlock, the little click that it makes that actually opens the door is not clicking. All other doors are fine, just odd that it would die after only 5k miles on the car. Anyway it goes in next week to get fixed.

Thought I'd share some pics from our trip..

Some great sunset shots...

And for all the wifey lovers

Nice picture of you and the wife. Even caught spinsonic snooping and scoping out the joint.

Keyless sometimes will not work right if it picks up an interferrence from similar frequency source. Is it working right now?

alarm

Hey Kev,

I had kinda similar issue with keyless go.. If I remember correctly, I had the key on me as I proceeded to open the door. I think only one opened, as I opened the door the factory car alarm went off (periodic horn and fog lights flashing). I tried turning it off but nothing would work except when I inserted the key into the ignition. This hasn't happened again, so I'm hoping this was some sort of a "bug".

BTW: nice pics, glad you enjoyed your trip

Well, the odd thing here is that it's only the driver's side door that's not working correctly. Definitely a good thing to send it to the shop.

Thanks guys, glad you all enjoyed the pics. Its definitely not a frequency thing, as the other doors are fine. If you feel and play with doors, you will notice that the inside of the handle has a black rubber seal. If you just click this seal, this will actually open the door, you don't even have to pull the handle all the way. Well the drivers side doesn't click at all, so therefore it won't unlock. It seems this padding has some sort of spring in it, that has given out. I'll let you guys know what the fix is next week.

Kevin, good to hear you had a nice trip to SB. The CLS55 looks way clean!

I have keyless go too, and have not had any issues yet. Thanks for the heads up on the black rubber seal. Hope all goes well at the dealer

I had a similar issue, My driver's door handle had to be replaced. something to do with the receiver. All other doors worked with keyless just not the drivers door.

Hey Kevin.

Kevin,

Nice photos (including the one of you and the wifeeee...)

Did you happen to get some McConnell's ice cream when you were there?

I miss So Cal.

No problems with the car. We were in Pinehurst and the Chef at our restaurant and the owner of the little pub next door both said it was the most beautiful car they had ever seen.

MB hit the jackpot with this one.

Love your rims....

You ever get out to NC?

Thanks Guys!!
Roy I didn't see McConnell's ice cream, where is it located?
I agree with them, it is a beauty for sure, I will keep mine for a while,
the power along with the lines of the car make it difficult to look dated.
I don't make it out to NC, but I will be in Miami for a day on the 25th of this month, were heading to Brazil for Peacock bass fishing!!
Will you be in Miami at that time?

Kevin,

We a bought a little place in Pinehurst and will be there on the 25th. Taking a little sabbatical from Miami this month and next.

What is a peacock bass?

As far as the car goes, I agree. It was so ahead of its time it can only be copied (and none of the spin offs are as good looking). We are keeping ours a while too. Besides, my financial adviser has me on lockdown... lol. I bought the G for similar reasons. Looks dated but will never be "outdated".

Kevin. Email or PM me about Miami. I can suggest some places for you to go, eat, drink, whatever. Are you staying over night?

McConnell's is an ice cream company. Their original store is in Santa Barbara. www.mcconnells.com Home made and some of the best I have ever had. They carry it in stores in SoCal..... I remember it growing up in LA in the 60's and 70's.

Ahh very nice, congrats to your new place.
Here is a picture of a Peacock Bass, its a large very agressive fish found in fresh water. This is a 23 pounder, they average about 18 lbs, the record is 27 lbs.

We don't have much time in Miami, we get it late 10P, and head out 4P the next day. Staying at the Shearton near the airport.
I wish I knew about McConnell's, my wife & I love good ice cream, will have to try it next time where there.
