No error indication when SC shutsdown?

No error indication when SC shutsdown?

I have read about this a little bit here, so thought i would share my experience. Supercharger shutdown on me today, after a good high speed run. It does feel like you loose 150hp, thought I was in my E320! Engine revving in the 6's but no power! I was looking for an error or warning on the dash, but none. After a few miles of driving normally It kicked back in. I'm on a replaced but stock IC pump.

Is no warning on the dash normal?
Is the SC bypass a normal thing after a good long WOT run?

no cels are normal. no s/c shutdown isnt normal after a long run unless the oat's get to high.

I know with the 55 motors. At start up when the engine is cold the s/c kicks on to help warm up the car faster. And at WOT for a while the computer will read the high temp and shut down the s/c for a lil. Its just a safety mechanism from MB so the engine doesn't blow. Have you taken your car to the dealer to see if there are any faulty codes? In my 63 when Im at WOT for a long time. Then stop and stomp on the gas again it feels much slower. I believe its just due to the engine being heat soaked. I know the 55's also get heat soaked fast. Maybe a upgraded HE and a better pump would help with this.

This is pretty normal for the 55k motor. I had an e55 for 3 years and now a CLS55. My supercharger shut down on me while my E55 was stock. There has been a lot of talk about this if you do a search. I then installed the Johnson pump cm30. After the johnson pump was installed, I also had a bigger pulley and ecu tune + headers and it never shut down on me, even w/ the mods.

I have a bigger heat exchanger and pump on order from Eurocharged for my CLS.

For the record, I have had a lot of issues with mercedes service saying they can't duplicate the problem. In the end, I said screw it. I'm not going to argue with them so I just pulled the trigger on the pump. In practice, my supercharger only shut down when I was doing canyon driving and holding gears in manual mode.

In short, just get a Johnson pump and be done with it.

its a common problem on the 55k motor. if u still have warranty on the car just bring it in and have them check and then replace the oem bosch cooling pump and that will solve your problems. if you are out of warranty then go buy yourself a johnson CM30 pump and have that installed. (150-200)

Thanks all. Its still under warrantee but I know that i have the stock IC pump which was replaced one time, and do plan to upgrade the cooling capacity. Saving up for the evosport - Kompressor Cooling Upgrade, since they are pretty close to me, kinda pricey though.

u can find a better HE upgrade for much less than what they charge over there.
do some research on the board and u will fin loads of useful info.
