Why are AMG models released earlier than BMW Ms?

2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG, 2008 Mercedes-Benz S500
Why are AMG models released earlier than BMW Ms?
I respect the dynamic abilities of BMW M cars but for me, I prefer MB AMGs as a better overall car. Just want to know though, why are AMG models released/launched earlier than M models?

Lots of new gained respect for mercedes after seeing the new cls63 amg. Who know when BMW will answer with the M5 and who cares, the CLS is a beauty.
