AMG build quality
Hi, I needed the forums opinion on AMG build quality compared to the regular models.
I am in the Middle East and dealerships in general are not as sorted out as they are in the US. They usually over charge for everything and are mostly incompetent in problem solving. I have had the displeasure of dealing with them for issues that seem very basic but they usually make it a pain in the ***.
I am thinking if the AMG is better put together than the regular MB's I should have lesser issues or on the flip side they might be completely over their heads in fixing such high performance machines.

AMG doesn't actually build the cars, don't get it confused. Mercedes does, except for the SLS AMG, which is all AMG. Mercedes builds the chassis, interior etc. And AMG builds the engine, tranny, brakes, suspension, and they put their spin on the car as well.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
Also, some AMG cars have MB motors in them with AMG upgraded components. Think of these motors as an in-house aftermarket upgrade.
Others have a completely designed and built motor from AMG. These motors are 100% from the AMG division.
Either way, you certainly want a qualified technician working on your car.
Someone who has actually had certified training with these motors.
