New guy!!!

Hi Guys,

Just got myself a W219 AMG its a really nice car with only 40000 on the clock, just had the secondary cat and resonator delete and i am getting the car mapped next week, what else would you recommend me doing before i map it? I know what to do but i do not know if it is worth replacing the parts because will they be better?

Here is the cars sound

Congrats on the beast and welcome to the forum!
Love the trims blackout. although I'm not a big fan of matte finish but the concept is neat.
What MY is the car? 40k is nothing! got mine with approximately the same mileage. Ho much did you pay?
In terms of mods, you are on the right track, exhaust job and a tune is to unleash the M156. Add HAF engine air filters from Weistec. All will give you 15-30 HP (depends on the tuner.
At your mileage, its recommend to do an LSD flush and a tranny flush/service.
Enjoy the beast

Great looking CLS. How does the exhaust sound from inside the cabin.

Thanks for the reply guys i paid £22000 for the car and it had 39k in the mileage it had a full service history and seemed pretty good overall.

I started looking for faults and had to replace

Drivers side acceleration sensor
Wiper blades
Noticed the gearbox has a small leak
Brake disks will need replacing before next Vehicle check in 2017

So as well as changing the car to suit me i have been sorting the last owners jobs but i cant complain the car is totally quality and has nothing major wrong, so moving forward i was gong to be flushing the tranny this weekend and replacing the seal but thanks for the tip about the lsd ill get that on my list also.

AS for the filters i have just replaced the standard ones with K&N panels I will start using the HAF engine air filters from Weistec from next filter change, but with the work i have done already i have been told between 550BHP / 560BHP is the ballpark for a good mapping so its booked in on Saturday i will get back to you with the results.

Finally as for the exhaust sound in the car to be honest its as loud as you want it to be, for instance after a cold start just feathering the car until it warms up its very quite but as soon as the temp is optimal then the child inside you wants to hear that roar and whats even more funny is the car wants it to lol.

Did you see in the history if the cylinder head bolts have been replaced yet? If not, I'd personally get that out of the way before something catastrophic happens.

Do some research on that. Unfortunately that's something I'd want to fix proactively if I were you.

Ok so i have been reading about it for hours now and the problems happen in the models between 2007-2010 not saying mine is excluded from having the problem but mine is a 2006 model and my engine number is not one of the highlighted engine numbers with the fault, not saying i dont care but it is low on my list of priorities but i am going to test the coolent and oil weekly from this point until i get round to getting a set of ARP bolts.

Do you think if i contact MB i could ask them if the car has had the work done over warranty?

Also the car was serviced and maintained at the same garage all its life so i could call them and ask if they have don anything regarding coolant lights or head bolts.

PS thanks for the warning i really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, replacing the headbolts is covered by MB warranty ONLY if the coolant light came on which means your engine is mixing oil and water already and you are far into the problem. But they will have to fix the engine to the limit of replacing it (if needed).
So if you have an MB extended warranty for couple of years, then don't worry about this issue. Mine is covered till April 2017 and I'm chilled for now.
