Car looks to be in good shape overall, but both camshaft adjusters have some gunk/glue/etc in the exact same spot. Photo below.
Car does have regularly scheduled maintenance records but nothing specific regarding any of the fixes this engine needs. Anyway to do a spot check to see if the head bolts have been replaced? Easy way to identify is the screw drive on the head, right?
Looks like they put sealant when replacing the VC gaskets or it was leaking and they did this to stop the leak. In anycase, this is not the official way to fix it. I wonder if some of the sealant got into the engine.
As for the headbolts, remove the valve covers and look at the bolts. It might be difficult to see them with the camshafts in place.
