Driving Tips

Hello Everyone,

Sorry but I'm a newb to this forum. I recently bought a C32 from a guy in Southern California. The car is just awesome! 3 TV's, 19" rims, kickin stereo, etc... Needless to say, I'm very happy with it.

I was wondering if someone could quickly school me on the best way to get the most out of the power? What I mean is, to get the lowest 1/4 mile time, what gear do you start in, when do you shift, etc... Of course, I've been experimenting on my own, but something tells me I haven't reached the car's true potential. The car seems to have a tendency to red line when I shift manually and start in 1st or even sometimes 2nd. I think I've shifted to the next gear, but it takes a second to respond and gets dangerously close to the evil red line.

Any help, ideas, etc.. would be very much appreciated.

Also, if there are any pals in the SF Bay Area, drop me a line. I really want to get it onto a track, but don't know where to start.

Many thanks!

Childzplay...

You expect a car heavy with audio equipment to go fast and one with 19'' rims to track well....

Man, I really thought I would get more feedback on this question. It doesn't seem like such an unreasonable question.

I put the car in drive, turned the traction control off and floored it. It was fun, but I just think the car can do much better. The supercharger lag seemed like days. Is there any way to trick the transmission or the supercharger? For example, floor it, take your foot off for a split second and floor it again.

I know there are some dxmn good drivers on this board, please help a grasshopper to fly...

Well my child, if you can handle more speed and really want to fly. And I mean really want to fly...this is what you do:

Get in the car.
Insert the key and turn the ignition.
Put your car in drive and make sure your ESP is off
Brake torque to warm up those tires
Take a very deep breath
Look left and then right then left, again.
Step on the gas till it hits the floor.
DO NOT LET UP.
If the cars get squirrely do not panic and stay focused.
KEEP THE PEDAL BURIED ON THE FLOOR and DO NOT LET UP

And drive that little b*tch to the nearest MB dealer and trade it in for a faster AMG

Or you can just take out all that extra audio/video crap to lighten it up a bit.

and before you ask what a brake torque is, or how, consider searching this forum. plenty of discussion abt launching.

Thanks NY & 360. Brake torque and launching - found all I needed. Time to try it out.
