I'm getting an '02 C32 soon and I am trying to figure out how to swap out the checkered int. trim for the Black Birds Eye Maple that I've seen in some cars. How hard is this and what would an approximate cost be??? Anyone else done this?????

I guess another option is to remove the stock trim and then apply a wood veneer, stain black and clear coat, but that's A LOT of work and would require a vacum bag setup.

The black birdseye maple is offered in the updated (2005 and up) 203s which have a different console...so that is a no go.

If you do want to have black wood in a pre 2005 W203 you will have to go with cinnamora wood (which looks even darker and better then the black birdseye does). Costs for all wood panels (6 door pieces and 3 dash pieces) is approx 1500USD.

OK...$1500 is a little too much for me. Does anyone know of a company that could apply veneer to the stock pieces and then stain the veneer a custom color?? I'm thinking a company that restores old Mercedes and Jag dashes could handle this. Thanks for the info!

there are several places where they make something like this - most of those places need your trims first and get those trims overlayed...

The CF kits I have seen installed sofar had some big quality differences...most of the kits look pretty good up to the point where one starts to open the ashtray (that doesn't open/close properly anymore due to the thick CF layer).
If you have something like that done - make sure you get it done properly.
