C55 winter driving?????
I would like to hear from those that drive thier c55 in the snow.
How does it take to the snow. Any problems getting around.
And of course I know snow tires are a must. What winter rims are you guys using?
Thanks for your imput!

The C55 is manageable in the winter. In deep unshovelled snow, it is slow because the traction control keeps working overtime to limit wheelspin. Also, the front skirt is quite low and will act like a shovel if there is deep snow. On level ground, it is unlikely the car will get stuck. Of course, winter tires are a must. Most people can't comment about whether one brand is better than the other because the C55 hasn't been around long enough for people to have switched winter tires and compare. The more popular tires include Dunlop SP Wintersport M3, Michelin Alpin PA2, Pirelli Winter 210/240 Snowsport, and Bridgestone Blizzak LM22/25.
I have not gotten stuck yet. The biggest challenge/test is starting from a standing start and going uphill on a slippery surface.
The car manual suggests 225 45/R17 all around for winter setup.
I'm using 225 45/R17 Kumho KW17 on 17" Mercedes OEM "Celaeno" rims. The choice of rims is also important because not all 17" rims will clear the brake calipers in the front.
And one other thing: putting the transmission in C mode (starting in 2nd gear) and a gentle touch with the accelerator is a must because of how much torque our cars have.
Here's my setup. (The car and rims are dirty, but what do you expect in winter?)

Ditto. I put stock 17 inch wheels from the C32, with Bridgestone LM22 snow tires, on my C55. They work well in the snow. Because they are H rated tires, they still give a firm ride. Will probably leave them on for trip to Phoenix next week, as we may hit snow on the way.

Yes snow tires are a must from what i hear. I got 18" TSW Bremmas with Hankook Ice Bears. The price for the Ice Bears were very reasonable (maybe even downright cheap) and came highly recommended from the place that I bought them from. I was originally going to get Dunlop Wintersports, but after I found this article it made my decision alot easier. Hasn't snowed alot this year, so can't give a completely informed opinion, but they worked well for a few days when the snow was around.

I use Dunlop M3 V rated and I love them. Slush, ice and snow are no issue, the weakest point of the tire is DEEP SNOW. I bought the V rated because when there is no snow, just cold weather, I still want the stability at 160kmh, which the Dunlp M3 has. Previous tires I tried and returned are Nokin RSI and Hakka2, both of which had too much wallow....could not go over 110kmh safely. I use 17 inch rims.
