G-tech RR

How accurate is this thing? I bought one a year ago and decided to take it out of the box last night. (calibrated the whole thing and went out on a couple of test runs)

my 1st 1/4 mile run was 13.1 @121.4 mph
my 2nd 1/4 mile run was 13.3 @119.3 mph

I was smoking all of first and second and the shifting was horrible. Driving this car in manual is no easy task.
Not to mention I need new tires. And this is an uphill ramp on the freeway so i was a bit nervous coming in to the freeway at full throttle...

I am having a shift light installed to help with the shifting and some new rubber.

I will keep everyone posted when i hit the track later this month.

with all the traction lost on the distance covered through first and second gears, your trap speed could probably be slightly higher than 121. i know a better launch usually results in a slightly lower trap speed, i.e. the best ET does not reflect the best trap speed necessarily, but the fact that over the distance you did not accelerate as best as possible for the first two gears means you probably lost a little in how much speed you can gain over the 1/4 mile. i would think with a good launch (and good tires) and at a level ground, you could probably pull a mid-high 11, very very low 12 if not so good launch, at about 121-124. don't mean to be a bench racer, but i think 11.8 is not impossible given if you have good tires and that you managed such a trap speed at an incline.

do you have a renntech manual conversion? that's pretty crazy. also, what kind of power are you putting down at the wheels now?

no, i do not have a manual conversion. Hartmut did some transmission work when they had the car (2nd and 3rd gear) and he advised me to the drive the car in manual mode for optimal results. (and he was right)
i am currently only putting 408 rwhp

i have to admit i was surprised when i saw the trap speed numbers...

Can't wait to go to the track!

that sounds about right with the RWHP and the trap...ET would obviously be better with more traction...the G-Tech is fairly accurate, the only thing better is going to a drag strip...
