Tire Bubble

Question for the forum. Ran over a bump on the rode the other day and now I have a huge tire bubble on front right tire. How bad is it to have a bubble on the tire and is it dangerous? Should I change it ASAP?
Should I change both tires or just the one?

Thanks!

What sucks is I've only ran 10K on these tires!!!!

tir bubble

I am assuming that it's in the sidewall? If so, then it would be in your best interest to replace the tire ASAP. I would also avoid any higher speeds(Highways etc) until you get it taken care of, especially if it's a front tire.

also...

I would change them both. I always change tires in pairs, even on my SUV. The handling and wear seem to be better. This might be a good time to get that "real spare tire" by using your good tire on an extra rim if you can get one for a reasonable price. I saw that it was on a front tire so I would be very careful with it at speeds above normal city driving. A blowout on a front tire can be especially dangerous, due to steering etc

white and whiter
I had a bubble on one of my front tires for a while. I drove on it for quite a while, but it's a scary feeling that it would gave out any minute. The reason for the bubble is because that the woven wires inside are cut and only the rubber is supporting that area.

bubble usually happens on the sidewall.

sorry, last post!

If it does happen to be on the tread its not as big of a deal, but I would have a tire center take a look at it a soon as you get a chance and avoid "excessive" speed

Another question for you guys....I want to switch the front tires to Michelin PS2 and keep the back Perilli's P-Zero (OEM). Is this a bad idea?

Should I keep the all tires the same brand or is it okay to have 2 different brands?

my fronts are still OEM and my rears are Toyo. no problems at all. if you're gonna eventually get some wider rear tires like 255ish, then you'll need to change the fronts to correspond correctly.

Update for everyone. Just got back form the tire place. Seems that the back are pretty much bald....changed all 4 to michelin PS2.

Seems odd I only got 10K on the perilli's?

What everyone else getting on their tires?

i previously had michelins on which only lasted about 10k (this seems to be about average) .... but then changed to eagle f1's which have now covered over 11k miles and are still going strong,
some of this is probably due to my less aggressive driving style of late (i have also noticed an improvement in my fuel consumption), which according to my trip computer has gone from an average of 18 mpg up to 21 mpg, but i also think the goodyears are a better tyre, a lot less expensive yet imo perform just as well in the dry and better in the wet

I got 14k out of mine in the rear and they're almost bald...

I think I'm going to go with these new nitto invos when they come out with my size (hopefully soon) www.invotire.com
