GOt my oil change / ac filter change from my dealer.. sigh

It was time for Type B service and dealer quoted me $500. I didn't want to spend that much and I was lazy to change oil so I took my car to local MB dealership.

Total invoce price = $249.06... They charged me $100 for labor..

They also forgot to check my seat heater (driver side doesn't work that well) and they've mst drove the hell out of my car, because when I chcked the fuel mileage, i saw 10 MPG after start...

I guess my point is.. Do it by ur self. It will save you $100 and some random people won't take ur car for joyride.

Never taking my car to dealership again for oil change.

Oh yea, is it possible for me to reset the service meter? Dealership didn't reset it cuz they only changed oil..

I would be cautious about jumping to the conclusion that they took the car for "joyride". I have observed the technicians working on the cars for extended periods with the engine running (warming the oil, etc.). Remember that the computer is still computing your milage, which, at that time is zero! Just like stop and go city driving with all the signals, milage shows very low with so much zero mpg factored in.

They've added 7 miles.. So I'm guessing they must drove the hell out of it.

About a month ago, I took my car there for wheel alignment.
MPG was around 11MPG as well..

I live in South Carolina and I guess these people don't get to see or work on alot of AMG lines. DAmn dealership didn't have single AMG cars on the lot or on display... ...

Is there a diy section on how to do the maintence and or can I get a cheapy CD rom off ebay or what not? I am used to doing all my maintenace on my 996 myself. also the cabin filter smells funny and I think something died in there and would like to know how to change!

Also what is the best product to take oil off of leather? some idiot tranported a tire in the back that had oil in it and it is on the leather. Thanks.

Not an AMG :(
Do NOT get your servicing done at MB of Buckhead (Atlanta)

Y'all-
I'm hopping mad after my recent vist to MB of Buckhead in Atlanta.
I changed the oil myself and brought my car in for a warranty issue. While they were at it, I told them to finish off service B (minus the oil change, engine air filters, etc.). Before I brought it in, I did three things. First, I filled my windshield wiper fluid to the brim. Second, I put a red X on the dust / cabin air filter. Third, I dropped my rear right tire to 25 psi. Then I brought it in.
I went in the next day because they said it was ready and get a bill for $340!
I tried to dispute the charges but they wouldn't let me take the car until I paid it.
The ONLY thing they did was put new windshield wiper blades on!
I checked my filter and it is the same one with the red X and they also charged for 'filling' my wiper fluid. They also never checked tire pressures.
So, I just paid $340 for wiper blades. I feel sick to the stomach - I talked to the service manager there (bypassed my service adviser who is a smug a$$hole) and the bottom line is that I have no recourse.

I say, next time take digital photos of the filter, windshield resevoir with date/time stamps and show them once the services are done. Also, have a witness with you when you do your own work.
Without this kind of proof, you are right, no recourse.

i had a similar experience a while back - the $600 oil change https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/152273-didn-t-know-air-filter-not-replaced-routine-service.html

now i know inspections are included all valuable stuff but still.

i'd like to adopt the c32 as a daily driver starting next year and REALLY need to figure out how to reset the service indicators. else i'm gonna paying $1800 for 3 oil changes as i will prob do 30,000 miles.

Resetting the service indicator is easy. In fact it is in the second post of this thread.

I called for just an oil change and got a quote of 120 dollars. She tried selling me the service b and said you don't need an oil change until you reached 13000 thousand miles. I was like **** I'll change it 5k or 6k at the most. I guess it's back to doing it myself. I was taking my cars to Sears and now with this C55 I'm going to be doing the dreaded oil changes again. I hate changing oil, it's always messy even with gloves.

I have one of those excavators and oil change on an MB is a breeze and clean. No problem. Bought my excavator at a local boating store --$50 buck three or four years ago.

I too will be a diy'er when it's time to change my oil. The only thing that worries me with the pump is the possible build-up of sledge that will not be evacuated with the pump. Is there still an oil plug under the pan or not?

After start? After the valet picked it up from the parking spot? Or since reset? Did you reset it when you dropped it off?

A lot of dealers do a standard "test drive" route to avoid any finger pointing. Like, "hey you changed my oil. Now it pulls left, has a vibration, all the wheels are scratched, a dent in the hood, and engine sounds funny." Seriously, don't overestimate the intelligence of some car owners.

The tech feels like he is getting shorted. On the service he would make 35-70 depending on pay/location... he does an oil change and gets lunch money instead.

Yes, I think doing a bottom drain is the way to go. You just have to remove the plastic covers underneath and the oil plug is very obvious. The nice thing about the C32 plug is that the thread on it is at least an inch long so you can loosen it and pull it out such that that you don't get covered in oil

As has been mentioned elsewhere about the top evacuator, I used my marine top evacuator first and got a suspiciously low amount of oil out. So, I pumped 2 quarts back in to add some weight and removed everything else via the oil plug. I definitely got at least 1/2 (half) a quart more out by using the oil plug.
