I dynoed my C32 again.
Well, let me start by saying that I removed the exhaust from the car so that we would have some real world numbers to compare. So, the only mods that have been added since the last dyno are:
Evosport Headers
Evosport Phenolic Spacer Kit
I used the same company, tech, gas, etc. I'm very detailed and I wanted true numbers.
Last Dyno was 343WHP
This Dyno was 333WHP
So, it appears as if I lost 10 WHP by adding the headers to the car. I'm not going to blame Evo, the Dyno (which is very reliable), or anything else. I'm very upset though...
I'm still 100% sure that the car is faster than before. I can't explain why I got the numbers that I did. All I know is that I have another Dyno appointment on Monday and hopefully things will be different. Maybe my car was PMS'ing and didn't want give me everything she had. We will be doing some tuning on Monday as well, so hopefully we can figure this thing out. As always, your input and comments are welcome.
The bold lines are the new run and the thin lines are last run. (Don't mind the yellow...my scanner is f#$%ed.

Dynos are notoriously imprecise, and there are a lot of variables that go into the data that comes out. Bad gas, bad air, a knock sensor, maybe the supercharger clutch was having a bad day. Hell, we all experience days when our cars feel crazy fast, and other days it feels like a Taurus. Computers rule our lives, and there are so many reasons that they could change your performance from day-to-day.

Jerry, when you add headers and remove exhaust, you have changed it's tuning.
I have seen it before, where not having H-pipe with headers affects scaveging and results in less power.

I don't think the stock exhaust is too restrictive. I'm not sure what is causing the problem, but here are some ideas:
1) Could it be the car needs more adaptation time?
2) Could it be that the Mercedes dealership re-flashed the ECU to original programming for diagnostic purposes?
3) Air filters have been known to cause from 5 to 10 hp, could it be that you had brand new filters before the 1st dyno but not the 2nd (as the filters been used for some time now)?

Well, if the next Dyno isn't up to par, then I'll try an h-pipe or x-pipe with the Eisenmann Exhaust that is still on back order (I should have it within two weeks). I was hoping that I would be able to get the same numbers as all of the other Stage II C32's before I started tuning the full exhaust.

MB would not have reflashed the ECU. Even though the ECU is on the top of my list for things to check. I doubt that my Renntech flash would cause this, but I will call them in the AM to discuss.
I checked my filters yesterday to make sure they were still there. I recently went in for a service b, so I just needed to see that they didn't remove the greens and install papers.

FYI , I personally don't rely so much on dyno...upto just a reference point of view
my way of testing performance mod to any car is to take it to the drag race
or track race for suspension mods...

i saw my numbers at around 360rwhp with my headers and H-pipe exhaust (no muffler) but my car was tuned by EVOsport to have the headers on. so, maybe you can purchase their stage II software for the added airflow.

This is why car felt stronger on the street with headers, but lost power on the dyno because you changed exhaust configuration.

Should I get them to change anything else while they are reflashing the ECU? The only setting that I am aware of is the Exhaust = Open, which is getting changed.

and find out if the timing is in the right range. If set too high, it will just pull timing from the knock sensors, set too low, not enough timing to produce power.

So, I will plan on sending them the ECU after my Dyno appt. on Monday and hopefully get this resolved by the end of next week.

this might help out but Im not sure on your cars.On BMWs that are boosted (Supercharged)they lose a few psi when throwing on bigger headers.Maybe you car is making a little less boost.

Then how come Evo can get the car to 365Whp? The only difference at this point is the ECU.
