New Goodyear F1 GS-D3s put on today - question

Hey guys, I just got my summer tires put on today. They are the F1 GS-D3s on 19 inch BBS CH wheels. I was last running Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's (255/30 - 19 in the rear) and didn't have any rubbing issues. I had to go up to 265s in the rear with the Goodyears and know that this is a common size with alot of guys. The tires are now rubbing on the driver's side rear.

I measured how close the tire is to the fender and the driver's side rear is a 1/4 inch closer to the fender than the passenger side rear. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you guys think that the tires were improperly mounted/installed? It seems odd to me that the proximity to the fender would be different on the different sides.

I have Bilstein PSS9's on the car. Do you guys think that I should just raise the car to prevent the rubbing or have I purchased too wide a tire?

TIA

what are the widths and offsets of the wheel?
the F1 GS-D3 is known to rub because its a wider tire with a more squared sidewall
(don't know how FrankW pulled it off on his 19x10 carlssons)

i would roll the fenders, and if it does not solve it, change tires.

I believe they are 8.5s with a 35 offset. I'm also running 5 mm spacers all around.

Here's some pics from an old thread

I have the same problem...GY F1 GS-D3's on 19's and rubbing only on the drivers side rear. I rolled the fenders and now it only rubs if i have people in the back seat and take a hard turn or hit a big bump

I have 9 or 9.5 in the rear so If you roll the fenders you might be good

But my car is only on renntech springs, im sure your coilovers are much lower

Very common for the W203 to have a huge variance in clearance between the passenger and driver's sides. I ran the GSD3's and had the same problem on the driver's side in the rear. Even on the fronts, the Goodyears in 235 rubbed my coilover strut tubes, but all other 235's did not and even my 245 Nitto's did not. I extensively rolled both front and rear fender lips and trimmed all the plastic joints and moved the metal bracket in the rear to prevent any rubbing even with a full load in the back. The sidewall profile and the rim protector on the GSD3's is extremely wide and sticks out quite a bit. I had a pic posted in one of the coilover threads that showed the GSD3 vs the T1-S.

Took the car into the body shop. They loosened the clip and moved out the plastic a bit (where the bumper meets the metal fender). Then they ground down the plastic a little bit. No more rub. All in all it was a very easy procedure.

smgC32, thanks for the response. My mechanic also said it was very common to have variance from one side to the other.
