I assume they are vents to release the high pressure air under the fenders. They're on most prototype racers.

Were these actual DTM cars, or mock ups?

Are DTM cars coupes or sedans?

kaze81 05-09-2007 02:14 PM

Thanks for sharing the pics. I really want to see that new C-class in person

Fifth, he might be asking about the bumper. If so,those are canards.

The new C is getting more attractive day by day.

j_belll 05-09-2007 02:46 PM

daaaamn! that new C is ridiculous! in a positive way.

From what I read awhile back, those little fins provide extra downforce.

I think the orange one is based off the new 63 CLK so that's a coupe.

The other one is the C-DTM, so four doors.

Thanks, Vadim.

As much as I want to like that new C, I think that this iteration is just too much. Next to the CLK, it is ugly.

Those are some mighty fine machines. I am often curious what AMG’s skunk works and R&D department is contemplating. Seems they have been busy. Probably out at Willow for a private (thanks Vadim!) shakedown and tune-up for the upcoming AMG Challenge at California Speedway.

To pilot those cars would be my dream job, and yet some fortunate souls are already getting paid to do it!

rlee02135 05-09-2007 04:29 PM

wow..sick DTMs!

It's going to take me a while to get used to that oversized grill. I had the same problem with the new Audi look, but it's really grown on me.

I'm not sure I can ever get comfortable with the Benz though. The Benz grill looks like a regular grill viewed through a distorting lens. The Audi grill covers a lot of real estate, but it's not distorted. We'll see.

Overall, I can't say that I find the whole look to be more youthful or sporty than the current C-class. It's very much in line with the S class, and there's not much youthful about that.

first thing you want to do is put the classic grille back on if you ever get a sport version.
