Valeo radiator replacement (follow-up)
- The Valeo unit was removed, bacause I wanted to avoid the transmission contamination issue, as it was reported on this forum by some of you (I have no warrenty left...).
- Today I had the (removed) Valeo radiator pressure tested ($16.50 at an independent shop) - both, the radiator and the build-in transmission oil cooler checked out ok (no leak at 20 PSI, which is higher then the running pressure).
Conclusion:
Yes, replacing a perfectly working part (non-leaky Valeo radiator) sounds like a real waste of $500 plus ...., but by not doing it one takes the risk of ending up with a contaminated transmission etc. because of "neglect" that made the decision easy! Yes, I will have the transmission oil replaced (and checked); but this is no longer a pressing issue.
For the past three years I "only drove" the car from point A to point B; but now, after considering to replace it (everyting works...) - I don't think, that the FUNNN reving it to redline can be easily replaced with the new C-Class..... (MB sales rep. just called .... ).
