Surprised I haven't seen your ride around. I live in Shorewood and spend a lot of time in Wayzata.

Would love to see you at our weekly Thursday MNSC club meets. (http://www.mnsportcompacts.net/forum...ad.php?t=59482) Great group of car guys and some of my car-guy mentors there as well. We have a few MBs that show up from time to time, including myself (I have a C32 and we sometimes get an SLK32, CLS500, W210 E55, new SLK but I'm out-numbered by tuned subarus, EVOs, that kind of thing), . I'm the Secretary of the local MBUSA chapter and will be at the Holiday dinner-party this Saturday. There are a lot of MB events, events with other clubs - we do a lot of stuff with the BMW, Austin Healey, M100 guys, Porsche, Nord Stern, etc...a couple drives a year, etc...

Let me know if you want more info, and seriously, sign-up at mnsc.net, would love to have more MBs at these weekly meets. I'll be at the one this Thursday, would love to check our your ride!

No such thing, but maybe you mean the E63?...is it Matt? :)

Did you join MBCA-TC? That's where the really cool MB stuff happens in MN. We do AutoX and rallies with other clubs etc... Plus lots of very nice MBs :)

Hope to see you around!

John

Yup, you are right. E63. No it is not Matt, it is Kevin.

Do you have a link to MBCA-TC?

Thanks

Joe

If you join MBCA you will be routed and become a member of MBCA-TC. We're working on updating the local chapter site/forums.

Just joined. I'm on the Lakeville / Farmington border. I own 2 Audis, my daily driver, an A6 4.2; my wife's daily driver, a woefully underpowered A4 1.8T, and our summer car a BMW M Roadster.

I'm strongly considering selling the A6 4.2 (a 2001) at the end of the winter and purchasing a 2005/2006 C55 AMG, but I'm concerned about how it would handle in the winter, even with snow tires.

Bif powell 12-01-2007 09:59 AM

I did my C32 the first year with snow tires and got through the winter without too much trouble, but after that winter I also bought an S4 for winters and I store the C32 and I can't imagine going back now. It depends on where your comfort level is. I grew up in MN and learned winter driving on a rwd, 1983 Caprice Classic with crappy all-season radials so it didn't phase me. Nothing like the S4 with Hakks though - very sure-footed in everything.

Yeah, I've already got the fun summer car (M Roadster). I'd really like to be able to use the C55 AMG for a daily driver (but I've yet to drive one), so who knows if I'll like it. I made a post about this very thing in this forum. It's looking more and more likely that I'll probably end up with a 2005.5 S4. That being said, I want to drive a C55 AMG first before I make that call.

On my 2004 C32 I have put snow tires on it each year and have had absolutely no issues. It was way better than the 1970 chevelle I had as my first car. :)

Just got my C55 a few weeks ago. I put snow tires on it. We will see how it works. I honestly don't think I will have any issues.

BTW, you gotta drive one before discounting it and getting anything else. Even my wife, who had to drive it alone the other day came home and said "I can't believe that car. On the highway you just want to put the pedal all the way down."

She has no clue what it would do if she did that :D

Yeah, I definitely want to give one a test drive at the very least. There do not appear to be any in the TC area (that I've found thus far). I've driven quite a few other fast cars ('07 911 TT, '07 Corvette Z06) so I'm not a stranger to torque / launch speed. That being said, I find the 370+ ft-lb torque in the rather nondescript C55 AMG sedan to be both novel and ample. I will DEFINITELY test drive one first - but I may need to fly down to Chicagoland to do it, it seems.
