car wont go into drive!!! need help

hey guys, after work i started my car to go home but when i pressed the brake to put the shifter in D, i wouldn't move. i tried it over again couple of times but it won't go into D. it seems like it's stuck in P. can anybody help with my problem. for me to put it into D was i had to stick a thin metal thing into the slot next to D.

Did you try to remove the little coin holder next to your cupholder and sticking in a screw driver? Check your manual

Also try shaking the steering wheel left and right while shifting

There is a way to manually over ride the system but in my case the manual over ride was not an option because the car was purely electrical in nature and the switch would not open regardless. I think the W203 allows for manual over ride of this safety feature.
