Stock I wouldn't be to worried. Add a juicebox to the 335i and you will have your hands full. I tried to race a 335i a while back and never got enough open road to really see what it had.

335i are fast, my buddy got one recently, still in the run-in period.

It is fast, but I definitely would say the C32 will beat them (stock I mean) on freeways. You need a stage 2 C32 to be on the safe side with 335i.

Heard from him that the car stop pulling after 5,000 rpm, but pulls real hard at low rpms.

When it comes to C32 and 335i. I am proud of the C32. With 2002 technologies, this car still outperform many new cars. Keep in mind the tranny our C32 has.

Stock C32 vs 6 speed 335 very very close race. Stock c32 against auto 335 C32 wins. Add software and a little tuning to the 335 and watch they turn into monsters. There was a post in the kill section on this just a while ago.

Yea 335i's are very dangerous to mess with when they have software however, they are not reliable at all. One of the first things to go is the fuel pump. I've got a couple of buddies with them. They're undeniably fast. But it is just a matter of time before you're in for warranty service. The best part is that BMW got smart. Depending on which year your 335 is, if something goes wrong and you take it in for warranty work they can find out if you've modified the ecu. That pretty much voids your warranty right there.

my friend ran 12.3 @ 114 with just an ecu upgrade and puts down 353/374.... no reliability issues so far.....

My buddy traded in a w208 CLK 430 for a 335i Coupe and chiped it right away. We met at a drag strip and he ran against me. He ended up getting 13.4 or near that and I got 13.7. My C32 is stock. This was his worst time that day, and I believe he hit 12.9 or 13.1 was his best. Anyway those 335i's would rape a C350.

Not really to worried if I were stock or modified...I bought this car for all it does not for straightline and street racing...I wouldn't mind owning a 135i to mod and take to the track...

135i is pig ugly and weighs more than you'd think. 335i is no threat unless modded Vishnu style. However, BMW have modified the ecu so it can't be chipped as easily now like the early build ones.

Lose your warranty either way and it's juts a garden variety car not an M or AMG.

+1 on the weight part (although I don't mind the look)

This has been discussed a few times, and it is surprising. I took these figures from the BMWusa.com site:

135i (manual) unladen weight: 3373 lbs
335i unladen weight: 3571 lbs

I certainly wouldn't expect the 1 series to be only 200 lbs lighter than the 335...

And the M3 Coupe is just 300lbs less than my big sedan.

of course the 335 is a competitor to everything under $50k..

that includes vettes, sti's, evos, R32, mustangs GT, SRT-8.

The c32 is just a sedan that has a supercharger and it no longer supposed to keep up today's cars.. but with a few small changes.. it can.

I like the N54.. 135, 335 or 535 does not matter. Great engine.

But looks like the piggy back era will going away to ECU flash style.

The car E92 is a great car.. and resale values are coming quicker than expected. This applies to all luxury cars across the board.

Would I trade my $18k C32 for a $35k used 335.. you bet.

Would I trade my $40k E55 for one... maybe. But the potential of the E55 is far greater than the limited potential of the small turbos.

Even with turbo upgrades.. the transmission is another topic of debate.

135 would be the best daily driver in the world, despite the looks.

Totally understandable.

In my opinion I think you might be borderline insane to even consider it. Have you seen the new redesign for the E-class? I think you have the best year in terms of looks and performance for the $.

Not to go off topic but look at this. God almighty how

In all fairness, you can never take renders as what it really is going to look like.

C32 versus 335 & 135

*** Only because BMW does not tell the truth as to what the 135 and the 335 are really making stock. You're talking a 3.5 litre twin turbo versus a single supercharged 3.2 litre. Look at the $$ they are getting for that car too. the 135 was supposed to come out of the chutes at the high 20s and is morphing into a 45 K car if you get the Performance Tune Package. They also say 300 BHP stock, I say more like 340-360 HP and so does Active Motorsports of Miami. Try getting a 335 for less than 55 K well equipped???

** Yes, if you could get one for less than $40K, good luck. In Chicago, they are running near $45 K and $55 or more for the 335 (new of course). Great cars no doubt and a very worthy competitior to the C32. The real questin for me is: Do you consider the current M3 a threat to the C32? (how about on a price per HP basis or HP per your acquisition cost basis?)

The C32 is still one of the best & unknown performance values out there. I like the fact that at 40 MPH , when I kick it, no one knows what lurks there. It is a true C class sleeper. In fact, I used to call the C class a "chicks car." No more!! I guess its all in how you look at it. The 335 and 135 are great cars no doubt, but for the $$, the C32 is a better "bang per buck" value. Plus, I know Benz parts and service are high. Ever seen what BMW gets and can you say bend over baby!!

totally agree, Stock 335i runs smooth and fast and it never feels like it only got 300bhp.

If this beast is JUICED UP, V-ed, then....untouchable.

BTW, if I am not mistaken, 335i runs a 3.0L twin turbo.

Oh, they're a huge threat. They'll outsell the C32/C55 by a HUGE margin at the dealerships!

It might be uglier than the rendering, look at the pic below, you can recognize the headlights under the camo.
One thing for sure, no muscular fender flares.

Yes, of course the 335 and 135 are threats. But just wait, in two years you can get one for about 40% on the dollar since like the Benz, their value drops like a rock as soon as you take it off the floor. I'll bet there will be a bunch of repossessed 335s running around with low mileage and great shape.
