So got the Akebonos and some free time. I know with some BBK's, you can silde out the brake pads without taking apart the calipers.
However what is the proper replacement procedure?

Unless
the rotors are mirror smooth replace them ,they can't be turned(not enough material)

if they are smooth follow the diy and in addition to help break in the pads, with a sanding block and some 150 grit sandpaper sand both sides of the rotors with a cross hatch pattern to cut the old surface glazing. Then spray them down with a good brake parts spray and finish the diy.
Akebono should have supplied you with bedding in procedures for the pads so follow them.

Doh, it wasn't in the sticky thread so I figured it didn't exist
I'll see how it goes tomorrow. The rotors are relatively new and only have about 10k on them and have no visible cracking (haven't tracked the car).
Just replacing the pads since I'm sick of the dusting.

yeah I found it eventually, if you could mark it in the subheading as a brake pad replacement procedure that would be great.
But yeah changing the pads was pretty easy--a lot easier than my friend's NSX. They seem to grab a little sooner than the OEMs and I did the proper bedding in period (10x 20-10mph, cool for 1 mile, 10x 40-10 mph, etc.). I'm still babying them but they feel good. Plus no more squeaking which made my car sound like a 1967 Buick POS .
