Tires Suck

I now have 63k miles on my 2003 C32 and i am on my 6th set of tires. I don't drive crazy but this is crazy. Put on some cheap Discount Tire tires and they only lasted 1500 mile before the belts were showing on the right rear, only worn on the inside of the tire. I think it was a bad tire so I went with bridgestones this time. Had the alignment checked and it was in spec.

Anyone else going through tires around 6-8k miles without driving hard?

Something is wrong with your car, to go through tires in 1500 miles. My current set of inexpensive Rikens have about 15,000 mile on them (and I do drive kind of crazy). The outer edges of the fronts are showing signs of wear but the rears still have several thousand miles left.

Get your car looked at by a real expert.

Wow CS...Thats incredible!! I've got 70k miles on my Nexen tires & they've been great (probably just jinxed myself). U should be happy w/those Bridgestones...Killer tires...If they go out soon on ya,I'd sure have the car checked out! Good luck dude!

In a word, NO

Even racing on my stock Pierrils I had almost 10,000 on them. If they wore out on the inside edge, you have WAY too much negative camber, GET AN ALIGNMENT NOW, with a spec sheet! If you truely just want HIGH mileage, go with Kuhmos. I had almost 20,000 on a set of 255/40/17 on a 2000 mustang convertable daily driver, with some ocasional fun on the track.

see yeah

I should have taken pictures. The tire looked fine until u looked from behind the car. The right rear tread was down to the cords on just 2 inches on the inside of the tire.

The car was aligned and was not out of spec. but the front did have excessive toe in which caused to the outside of the fronts to wear faster.

I think it was a bad tire as most of my tires last about 6-9k miles until I went with the cheap discount tire route.

Look into General tires..

They look decent and so are the prices.
I used to go for the brand name expensive tires...but not no more...these General does the job fine.
I was told that Continental make them...so they heave the good R&D in them.

I've had good luck with all-season tires (Pilot Sport A/S's) lasting pretty long. The first set of Pilot Sports that the car came with wore out super fast despite slow driving. I think that a lot of people now are using the Bridgestone RE960AS's. For summer tires, I see a lot of people here with the Goodyear GS/D3's, which are consistently rated #1 on tirerack, over the Pilot Sport 2's.

I have the PS2s and they are sticky and rarely squawk in cornering. Wear is decent, nothing spectacular, but they do stick at the track and in the rain too!!

Ya the PS2's are rated #2 right behind the GS/D3's.

you just answered your question. its the toe that killed your tires. excessive toe will eat tires quicker then negative camber. if you had excessive toe, then your car wasn't within spec.

go to a mercedes tuner shop or a alignment specialist and have them adjust the alignment and toe. Get the spec print out as well when there done. Scan it when your done so we can all make sure its within spec.
