My girlfriend just picked up a C55 AMG a week ago and we are both pumped about it! Figured it would be a good idea to join here and get a heads up on what to expect from this car(maintenance, etc). It has 59k miles on it. Thanks

Congrats on the smokin' ride! MBWOrld is the place to be...nice people, very informative, often very entertaining and humorous, and a community of MB maniacs who "get it."

Full Gallop!

Good to see you followed through with the C55, and not a G8!

Welcome to the dark side

Welcome, this is a great site, you'vre picked the best place to start. 12+ years of Ford, DSM, Jaguar, and GM sites have allowed me to say this, so far, is the classiest group of folks I've found so far. Not many trolls around here and a well rounded, helpful group for tech (as much as can be found anyway).

A C55 is a sweet ride, you're gonna have to marry that one....just get it over with and do it so you can start modding. Have Hooleyboy as you're best man.

My wife "LOVES!!!!!!!" my car,,,never cared a rats butt about any others I've had and wants me to give it to her and get me something else....whatever it is it'll be an AMG now that I've driven one.

Welcome and enjoy the car. This really is the best bunch of guys to know for all of your C55 needs. Be careful though, if the mod bug bites, make sure it bites your GF as well!! There is no turning back ...

I know what you mean. It is her daily driver and coming from a G35 I think she'll be ok in the stock form for a while. I, on the other hand, have my STi to crave all of my modding needs. I am nervous enough with her driving with that much power as it is, not to mention she can't have a faster car than
me!

jturkel, this is how cool she is....she got me a stage 2 package for my STi for my birthday(downpipe, catback exhaust, cobb accessport ecu management, drop in filter.) My birthday was last thursday and we're still waiting for everything to get here. When all is said and done it should make roughly 60 more whp. After that I'm goin for suspension and handling stuff. Can't wait. She's way supportive of my habit May have my last name before too long.

wow....that is a keeper for sure! does she have similar friends or sisters? haha! i remember helping my ex-roommate install his downpipe, catback exhaust, intake, and the later addition of his access port.

you will have one torquey **** in no time! and it will sound great. haha...the low end tq on that thing always made the V1 think it was getting lasered from a launch.

what brand downpipe and catback did you order?

oh and happy belated bday.

It's very comfortable and I'm finding new gadgets in it everyday. One scare, however. We were coming home from a get together for her work and I was driving. I let her out in the driveway before pulling into the garage because my car was already in there and don't want any self inflicted door dings. Well the traction control was off, I touched the gas and next thing I knew I was headed for the kitchen wall!

Anyway, stopped short of the wall and told her she never needs to touch the traction control button, ever. There are tire marks in the driveway

Other than that the car seems awesome. I washed it twice and waxed it once in the first 4 days she had it

TC is a no no until full control and understanding of the car is there and even that is so subjective to measure. TC on for safety. Gadgets sound good.

Being around alot of STI's at Dyno-Comp and owning a C55. I think the C55 takes the STI if they are both in the stock form. It will be close though. I think you made a good choice with the COBB AP. I envy Subbie owners with having options like Cosworth motors and what not to choose from.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the comments.

For the C55 owners, what is a typical first set of mods? I realize this is a slippery slope once started , but just curious as to what you guys do to these first.

res delete and secondary cat delete

should net you ~ 7-10whp and makes it sound like a real beast (and is relatively inexpensive too)

after that, mods start getting expensive: renntech intake, headers, tune, lightweight crank pulley
