Cost $65 to buy everything needed at Autozone... Haven't got around to making custom heat shields, and air tubing yet. Should look, and perform great when finished! Supercharger is very loud compared to stock setup. I did notice an increase in performance after installation...

sorry to bust your bubble but you should have checked the srt-6 forum first and saved some cash.
due to the way the engine compartment is sealed this setup will provide less air than oem. also the amount of heat buildup in the engine compartment will hurt performance also. the oem y splitter doesnt help this at all.
for you cars try the eurocharged dual cai or a sl55 setup to get the gains your looking for. spectre has a plastic cheome setup you can custom make for about 200$.
the main idea is to get the cold air from the front of the rad support to the throttle body

GT4AWD what cooling mods do you have? I was watching your other video and it seems like your temp never moves above 80, after some hard driving mine seems to hover in the 90-95 range.

probably cause the outside temperature is in the mid 40's..

you would probably see gains before the engine compartment fills with heat, then you will lose more than you gained. Heat is the enemy of horsepower.

My engine temperature normally stays between 80C-95C. It will rise up to 95C on warmer days. I did notice the 185MM really hasn't raised my engine temperatures. It actually starts to drop when I go WOT for a few... Stock t-stat, h/e, etc...

I agree that for now this is an inefficient setup, but believe once my custom shielding and air tubing is done that it should perform nicely... I do plan on getting a few dyno runs here wed/thurs, and we will get two runs w/ & w/o the custom intake. I'll let you guys know the results...

Don't listen to the nay-sayers, it looks like a good setup for torque.

3 things:

1. Put the shielding underneath the filters to protect from the valve covers/exhaust manifolds. You might be able to remove some of the stock shielding from somewhere else and band it to shape.

2. Remove the weatherstripping at the rear of the engine compartment so air can flow into the front snorkles and out the rear by the windshield.

3. Remove the insulation that's on the underside of the hood for a better airflow and slightly more pronounced supercharger whine.

Dude, engine temp and air intake temp are two different thing !!

I'm well aware of that... You would expect an increase in engine operating temperatures though. Supercharger is compressing more air thus requiring more fuel, and creating more heat.

Will do, thanks for the suggestions! Heat shield was planned for top side of engine by filters.

due to the way the engine compartment is sealed this setup will provide less air than oem.
I can see with the current setup, but not sure if you were talking about even after shielding, and air tubing is finished? Are you saying those air ports on the front side don't have good air flow. They work good because the OE setup is completely sealed, and it's actually the engine pulling air in? If that's the case I could setup some electric fans...

Those filters are huge! They should of had the open end also...

I like how the heat shield is constructed. Hoping to make it more OE looking though.

agreed. should have used the XStream® Air Flow Top K&N filters or similar style cone filters.

Nice cold night. Decided to get a few runs on the empty highway... Intake must work decent! I really love the sound... Even get similar to blow off valve after letting off throttle. Can the waste gate be modified louder?

yah that intake is only going to make some power when it is cold in your engine bay.

it sits right on top of your supercharger and no longer has direct exposure to incoming air. it would be wise to extend piping outward like the LET intake and put the filters in front by the radiator supports....and then put some kind of heat shield on your filters. i honestly don't see this setup making any power because of where it is located and lack of air flow

+1000, without tubes going to those filters from the front of your car like Vadim did your just robbing your car of power and sucking in your warm/hot engine bay air. But you get what you pay for I guess. Go back to stock until you finish building your intake because as of right now its not helping your engine breathe. GL with finishing the custom intake though, post pics when complete.

The guy wasn't able to get his main computer to stop freezing, and his laptop wouldn't sync up with the dyno hardware/software for some reason. Did about four pulls with no results. Got video though... Going to get some numbers tomorrow for half price.

After the dyno runs on the way back I did loose the supercharger a few times from IAT. He didn't run the fan though so that's understandable I guess. Was around 55F outside. Strange though that the transmission would also seem to slip into neutral from say drive at a stop. Is this part of IAT safe mode?

I was able to reuse the heat shield I made for my old Sportcoupes custom intake, and that fit well on the driver side. Now just need to fabricate up another shield out of aluminum, and heat shield material. I found one the air snorkels from Sportcoupe also, and that seems to make a good starting point for some custom piping. Will probably order in another one from dealership as I really like the fit. Will work better than the OE C32 snorkels for what I'm looking to do.

I can look through the grill slots, and see the filters. I'm sure flow is there, but still a lot of heated engine bay air without the shielding, and additional tubing to direct flow centered at the filters.

Great sound!!! i think after you finish this project with the heat shield and all... it'll gain some hp. As far as asthetics...LOOKS GREAT!!!I'm sure you already know the disadvantages of heat and all...as you heard from everybody. but like many of us including myself I can appreciate your efforts of trying anything to gain more power. good luck on the project and can't wait to see the end result...........thanks for the vids too.
maybe if it turns out with + results you could do a step by step custom intake project thingy

Did the dyno runs around 4PM today. It is a Dynocom Chassis Dynamometer capable of calculating up to 1200WHP. Around 35F temperature. No problems today other than a few off readings. 83HP @ 140MPH... A wideband o2 was used to monitor A/F which is spot on. The attached image shows the two best runs using both stock, and modified intake. Both runs with hood down, and fan running. Blue is my custom intake, and green is stock intake. Those OE filters did have around 10k miles on them though...

Custom Intake - 327.6WHP/374.3WTQ
Stock Intake - 308.9WHP/355.4WTQ

Custom Intake - 322.6WHP/364.8WTQ
Stock Intake - 305.8WHP/359.3WTQ
