Trans fixed = happy owner
I got my 02 model transmission jerk fixed this week. Dealer asked me to demonstrate the problem on road test (not hard to do), called Benz and two weeks later called to say new parts were in.
The car is transformed in city driving. I wish I hadn't waited so long to complain. I kept telling myself the jerky shift was all part of having a performance car.
She's silky now,and I love it!

Mhh,
We have seen the other posts. They all say that there is no fix. And the ones that thought they had it fixed all returned in time. So if you know what parts they installed it might help. Keep us posted.

From memory the parts were a control unit and a throttle valve, but others with a more technical bent might have a better idea.
I wasn't aware that all with the upgrade said it didn't work. I thought some others were happy too. I'll monitor and let the board know if if it returns.
I forgot to say that the trans is smoother in both S and W modes - the whole sensation is one of smoother forward progress. For the first time, I sometimes don't notice the one-two change at all.

Have had the transmission fix now since last summer on my 2002. It fixed the 1500rpm "jerk" problem (torque converter lock up) and generally smoothed out all shifting. There has been no return of the problem. Besides the "jerk" fix, what is noticeable with the change is a reluctance to downshift with throttle kickdown in auto mode. While before, a little throttle input would cause a downshift, now more throttle input is needed. This is good fun because there are tons of torque available from the engine at low rpms. However, it would be frustrating if the engine were less powerful. If you have a 2002, get this change done and start enjoying the car.

WOW, that's good to know that there finally is a solution to this annoying kicking problem. this problem's annoyed the hell out of me so now i drive in "W" mode so that it wont have to shift first to second gear. Does the problem have anything to do with the ECU?
