Interesting Info about Powder Coating wheels
Hey All,
Been doing a lot of research into whether or not it is advisable to powdercoat wheels, spoke to a few knowledgeable people, and perused the internet extensively in search of an answer. Ran across an interesting inquiry about the matter here: http://forum.caswellplating.com/powd...-t6-pcing.html Just thought I'd share the information. |
Interesting indeed. I've personally seen a whole bunch of C32s/C55s (mine included) with powder coated rims, and I've not noticed anybody saying that its causing any structural problems.

I would just buy some new ones or replicas.

There is a reason manufacturer of all kinds of wheel paint their rims instead of powder coating. Most of the stuff ive seen powdercoated are made of steel instead of aluminum.
Personally i will never powdercoat aluminum wheels. |
There is always that possibility of reducing the strength of the wheel if done incorrectly. The gains you get by powder coating though are a much more durable and even finish. I have seen many a painted wheel start chipping bad, whereas of all the powder coated wheels Ive come across mainly looked like new and yet I've personally never heard of a wheel failure due to powder coating.
