Vehicle Registration Renewal
Just received my vehicle registration renewal notice.
A unbelievable $1045. Compare to when I was living in Florida is only $45 for any car. It's just too expansive to live in California :( |
Yep, welcome to California! My 4 year old E55 just set me back $385. Our (soon to be former) governer and the rest of the liberals in Sacramento are spending so damned much money that they have to rape the rest of us to keep the state running.

You must of just made the deadline for the tripling of the registration fees. I just renewed mine for $316 due in August. You can thank Dick Weed Gray Davis for that.:wwf:

Guys, thanks to Gov. Davis the VLF (Vehicle License Fee) has skyrocketed in California. Expect registrations to double this year !
|
CA DMV fees
The part that was tripled was the base registration fee
went from $45 to $135 the Vehicle License Fee offset (in place 1/1/99 through 9/30/03) is what has been rescinded. The provision was put in that when the budget needed it, the VLF offset would go away. I can thank Enron, Mirant, Duke and the others for a big part of the budget shortfall that began in 2001...the millions of dollars in bonds issued to buy power from these slimeballs only made the effects of the recession even worse. The VLF is 2% of the purchase price of the vehicle amortized over 11 years. (1st renewal is .90, 2nd is .80, etc.) plus the base registration fee and any other county fees that might be added. *** I don't like the idea of the VLF fees going back up, but they've always been high. Drivers in CA do get a big hit whenever the state wants to get more tax revenues in. The neighboring states: WA, OR, NV have much lower fees by comparison. Now if they'd only spend the money to improve the crappy condition the roads are in...instead it gets spent on everything else, it seems. And I don't even want to get started on the insurance issue. That industry thinks it has free license for them to charge CA drivers more... |

That is insane. I am in New York and I paid $64.50 for my C32.
|
I paid like $460 in NH. Gotta love states with no sales tax, they stick it to you in other ways.

It must be nice to spend someone else's money. We have one of the highest state income taxes, highest sales taxes, and car registration fees. You would think that they would clue in and say 'Gee, do you think maybe we could not spend so much.' |
you think thats bad? how about$1450 for connecticut? i think its the worst state in the usa for registering.

If I can find it, I'll post the article that shows how our glorious government has been hiring (creating jobs) in the past 2 years compared to every other industry in the state cutting back. Can you say fiscal irresponsibility? Without picking on professional politicians like the Kennedys, has it ever occurred to anyone why people get into politics in the first place? Search back and see if you can find where they as a family have made their money. Then ask yourself why anyone would want to spend a boatload of their own $$ to run for a political position that has a legitimate salary less than what the average doctor, lawyer or other professional makes. |
Just to think that I wanted to live in "Vacaville" :eek I thought living in Misawa Japan was expensive, but we do have to pay a "Road Tax" every year

PA - #36.00 :woowoo: I feel bad for you guys who get :hammer: Of course PA has some of the worst roads in the country :( :wall:
