Vic, this just happened to me last week. Our cars are smart enough to switch to the substitute bulb (top of light assy.) when the tail light goes out. The actual light you want to replace is the inboard lower bulb. I'm sure that if you pull the assembly, you will notice that bulb has a blackish sheen to it.
Any auto parts store should carry the Sylvania #7506 (I believe) 2-pak for $5-10.

Ok checked again and replaced smaller inner bulbs as well as substitute bulbs cause thou they were working they both looked hazy light burnt all good on the substitute light they are off and lower brake light back on even tested the "P" arrow right and arrow left all is good thanks guys!
