02 vs 03 vs 04
I know some threads have been made and I've read them, but I just wanted to ask a few things.
My 03 c32 is totaled (#$%#), and I'm looking to buy another at the moment. First beside the plaque and bad radiator, I had read some things about the cams being different in the 02. Has this been proven or any new information about this? Any other drawbacks? Also what is different on the 04 models? I had read that the 03's tended to do better in dyne's for some reason. Any info would be greatly appreciated! My tires were worn and hydroplaned bad on the turnpike.....was going to get Michelin pilot super sports the following week ;( Loved that Friggin car! RIP. |
Glad you're ok man, cars are replaceable.

I'd say avoid the 02 if at all possible.

04, aero on wiper. metal pedals.
Also, all model years may have those. Point? Search has all the answers you seek. |
Ive seen my freinds 02 (100k mi+) dyno 10hp higher stock than my old 04 (36k miles) when it was stock back to back. That being said the 04s are the best since they have the least production volume (under 500 if I recall). Black is even rarer at 281. 02 had frosty xenons as an option and 03's and up went to bixenon and changed radiators. The 03s and up should have the AUX prewired. The 02 and 03s advantage is that tectite gray and orion blue were available as a $1400 option and they are rare colors. TCU programming is a mute point as you can get a TCU tune from EC that gives you manual mode which is awesome.
The expert on C32s is FrankW. He knows all the options and one of two guys (other is BenzoAMGpower) I know who had his since new |

My 04 doesnt have the aux pre-wired...

I think the aux comes with the bose system, but I could be wrong.
|
Mine was pre-wired but i know of others who had to get the kit and wire it in themselves
There are a lot of original owners here wow. So now i know 5. |

My 02 has AUX prewired. TCU can be reprogrammed but using your logic the headlights can be swapped too. :nix: And you can add me to the list of original owners.
My C32 had bixenons swapped in by the previous owner. I didnt have the washer nozzles. |

Just missed out on a beauty 03 with 36k miles, Dang! It had the bixenons as well...crap was going to offer 15k (17.3k list).
Going to settle for an 03 in great condition w/ 70k miles for 12kish (14k list). Both were silver. To be honest as weird as it is I like the c32 in silver the most. Maybe it grew on me. For some reason I didn't want one with the navi screen setup. Don't like the looks and I figure the navigation is old. I use my phone for that anyways. Luckily damage was just in the rear so engine was fine. I kept the NW DCAI and 61mm pulley, but I will have to buy another H/E with iso, bc I didn't have the stock IC (no space for it during my move from Milwaukee). Hopefully I can get it from the yard. Also you think Eurocharged will allow me to use my previous tunes on the new car? I know they are matched to my previous VIN. |

Thanks for all the replies guys! Only one of the 02's had the radiator updated on car fax. Was actually a nice one. White with black and red interior. Just read a lot about the problem with the cams. Plus he took off the badge on the side of the car. You have to rep the v6 kompressor! In the end I think sticking w/ the 03/04 is safest.
